Hollywood star, George Clooney, is mourning the loss of his older sister, Adelia ‘Ada’ Zeidler, 65, who died on Friday following her battle with cancer<\/p>\n

George Clooney has revealed his sister, Ada, has died, aged 65, following her battle with cancer. The Hollywood star, 64, paid tribute to his “hero” sibling, Adelia Zeidler, known as Ada, saying both he and wife Amal would ‘miss her terribly’.<\/p>\n

Praising his sister for “facing cancer with courage and humour”, George<\/a> told People magazine<\/a>: \u201cMy sister, Ada, was my hero. She faced down cancer with courage and humour. I\u2019ve never met anyone so brave. Amal and I will miss her terribly.” Ada\u2019s official biography says she died \u201cpeacefully\u201d on Friday while \u201csurrounded by the people she loved\u201d at St Elizabeth healthcare in Kentucky, US.<\/p>\n

In addition to her parents Nick and Nina, “[Ada] leaves behind her beloved children, Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler Herolaga and her husband, Kenny; her brother, George Clooney and his wife, Amal; and several uncles, aunts, and cousins,\u201d her obituary read.<\/p>\n

The mum-of-two, who was named after her great grandmother, was described in her obituary as a \u201ctalented artist\u201d, who put her skills to use as an art teacher at Augusta Independent School in her hometown of August, Kentucky.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn high school, her academic achievements qualified her to be a National Merit Scholar,\u201d her online memorial read. \u201cHer love for reading connected her with other readers in a local book club.<\/p>\n

She was also a member of the Augusta Art Guild and was a past grand marshal of Augusta’s Annual White Christmas<\/a> Parade.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unlike her younger brother, Ada lived her life away from the spotlight. However, while she led a very private life, she supported George publicly over the years, including attending his star-studded wedding to wife, Amal, in Venice in 2014.<\/p>\n

Ada was papped standing next to the ER star on a boat as they rode along a canal in the Italian city, surrounding by famous faces, who were invited to the nuptials.<\/p>\n

The siblings grew up together in Kentucky. In 2015, George told CBS This Morning<\/a>: \u201cMy sister, I\u2019m very close to.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two-time Academy Award winner also looked back on heartfelt moments with Ada during their childhood as part of a speech for the Workhuman convention at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Centre in Nashville in March 2019, according to The Tennessean<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Christmas morning, when we woke up, before we could open any presents we would drive an hour and a half to some stranger’s home and spend the morning having Christmas with these people, bringing presents,” the actor recalled.<\/p>\n

“The understanding was that we are all in this together. It taught me so much.”<\/p>\n
