He was 46.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Film Independent Spirit Award winner was found dead by hanging on Friday in Los Angeles, having apparently died by suicide, according to the county medical examiner\u2019s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/me.lacounty.gov\/case-detail\/?caseNumber=2025-19778\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBorn June 2, 1979 in Baltimore, Ransone attended the nearby George Washington Carver Center for Arts and Technology before studying at Manhattan\u2019s School of Visual Arts. Some of his early roles include films like Larry Clark\u2019s Ken Park (2002), John Waters\u2019 A Dirty Shame (2004) and Spike Lee\u2019s Inside Man (2006).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tRansone was known for his horror roles as the grown Eddie Kaspbrak in IT Chapter Two (2019) and the unnamed deputy in Sinister (2012) and Sinister 2 (2015), most recently reprising his The Black Phone (2021) role as Max in Black Phone 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHis other movie credits include Prom Night (2008), Starlet (2012), Spike Lee\u2019s Red Hook Summer (2012), Oldboy (2013), Cymbeline (2014), Sean Baker\u2019s Tangerine (2015), Mr. Right (2015), Gemini (2017) and V\/H\/S\/85 (2023).<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-deadline-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/MCDITCH_EC004.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"683\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tBill Hader, Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, James Ransone, Isaiah Mustafa and Jay Ryan in \u2018IT Chapter Two\u2019 (2019) (Brooke Palmer\/Warner Bros.\/Courtesy Everett Collection)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOn TV, Ransone appeared in episodes of The Wire, CSI, Law &amp; Order, Burn Notice, Hawaii Five-0, Treme, Bosch and Poker Face.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tRansone is survived by wife Jamie McPhee and their son.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"James Ransone, the actor known for his roles in IT Chapter Two and Tangerine, has died.
