Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes is an “absolute rascal” who is constantly “trying to be the man to make the difference” on the pitch.<\/p>\n
That’s the glowing assessment from Liverpool<\/a> legend Graeme Souness<\/a>, who believes Newcastle’s midfield can hold its own against anyone in the Premier League. Souness, himself a midfielder during his playing days, has also hailed Joelinton as a “revelation” and reckons Newcastle will possess a serious attacking threat once Yoane Wissa reaches full fitness.<\/p>\n “With their best midfield, Newcastle are a match for anyone,” Souness, who managed both Liverpool and Newcastle<\/a>, told Chronicle Live<\/a>. “Joelinton has been a revelation. He’s a big, powerful player in midfield for them.<\/p>\n “Bruno Guimaraes \u2013 I really, really like him. He’s an absolute rascal. I liked him (against Sunderland) because when they were 1-0 down and chasing it, he was trying to be the man to make the difference all the time, wanting the ball all the time.<\/p>\n “Anthony Gordon had a bit of a disappointing game (against) Sunderland), but normally you’re getting some magic from him.<\/p>\n “Newcastle are in good shape, and when Wissa gets himself fully match fit, they’ve got some firepower there.<\/p>\n “If they got another trophy, that’d be a great win. A trophy and finishing in the top four, that’d be a great season for Newcastle.”<\/p>\n Liverpool can still win the league – Souness<\/p>\n Souness also recently spoke to Liverpool.com<\/a> to explain how Liverpool can still win the Premier League title this season, despite being 10 points behind Arsenal in first.<\/p>\n “I look at Arsenal<\/a> – they had 70 percent of the ball the other night against Wolves, who look as if they’re already relegated, and they won the game by two own goals,” said Souness, speaking on behalf of Sky Bet<\/a>.<\/p>\n “They had 70 percent of the ball; their goalkeeper made two saves. Creation’s a big deal for them. So, as a Liverpool supporter, you’re thinking, ‘Could Arsenal fall off the perch? Could they have a bad patch?’<\/p>\n “You’re also hoping that (Erling) Haaland gets injured. Do they (Manchester City) score goals for fun after that?
