{"id":329979,"date":"2025-12-22T15:39:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-22T15:39:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/329979\/"},"modified":"2025-12-22T15:39:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-22T15:39:11","slug":"solo-gp-fund-belief-capital-closes-20m-to-invest-in-ai-and-robotics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/329979\/","title":{"rendered":"Solo GP fund Belief Capital closes $20m to invest in AI and robotics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-block=\"p\" class=\"\">By Sifted\u2019s count, <a href=\"https:\/\/sifted.eu\/articles\/europe-vc-solo-gps\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">over a dozen European solo GP funds<\/a> have closed this year \u2014 and the latest comes from Kevin Costa, founding partner of Belief Capital, which today announces a final close of a $20m fund.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">Belief will invest in pre-seed and seed-stage companies in Europe and the US, paying particular attention to young technical founders building in AI, robotics and infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">\u201cIf you look at many of the most interesting venture outcomes of the past few years, companies like Cursor, Mercor or Midjourney, they\u2019re all built by young, deeply technical founders, often between 18 and 30, running extremely small high-leverage teams,\u201d says Costa.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">\u201cThese founders are AI-native, less constrained by legacy thinking and willing to pursue non-consensus ideas. As tech becomes a larger % of global GDP, we believe this is just a glimpse of how the future will be built.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">Portfolio companies so far include Tallinn-based Ark Robotics, which is building an infrastructure layer to connect fleets of robots, and Popcorn, a New York-based startup building a \u2018next-gen telco\u2019.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">Investors in the fund include general partners at VC firms Hummingbird, Point Nine and Adjacent, along with founders such as Wise\u2019s Taavet Hinrikus and Pitch\u2019s Christian Reber, and San Francisco-based fund-of-funds GREE.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The strategy<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">Belief will invest $500k-3m in 10-15 startups, in exchange for a 5-10% ownership stake. Costa says there will be \u201csignificant follow-on capital reserved\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">\u201cA lot of our best dealflow comes from the internet, particularly platforms like X, where young technical founders share ideas early,\u201d says Costa.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">Costa, who\u2019s been angel investing since the age of 19, adds that he also gets a lot of referrals from founders he\u2019s backed previously \u2014 and spends time close to universities like Oxford and\u00a0 Imperial in the UK, and Vanderbilt and Georgia Tech in the US.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-block=\"p\">Belief was one of 20 emerging funds selected for Mountside Ventures\u2019 inaugural <a href=\"https:\/\/sifted.eu\/articles\/mountside-vc-accelerator-fund-participants\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">VC accelerator programme<\/a> earlier this year.
