Coronation Street\u2019s latest villain is only just getting started, and if Amy Cudden<\/a> is to be believed, things are about to get a whole lot darker.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Metro at the Corriedale<\/a> premiere, Amy opened up about stepping into one of the biggest soap events in recent history and playing Becky Swain<\/a>, a character who has already sent shockwaves through Weatherfield and enraged one of the show\u2019s most passionate fanbases.<\/a><\/p>\n

For Amy, being asked to take part in the huge crossover episode between Coronation Street and Emmerdale was both thrilling and terrifying in equal measure.<\/p>\n

\u2018Shock and panic, there\u2019s going to be a lot of eyes on it, and then just real excitement,\u2019 she said. \u2018I\u2019ve never been part of something quite so massive with so many eyes on it, but it\u2019s just amazing, the best feeling.\u2019<\/p>\n

With Corriedale already being talked about as a piece of soap history, the pressure is understandably high, and Amy knows viewers will be watching Becky\u2019s every move.<\/a><\/p>\n

While Becky\u2019s darker side has only recently started to surface on screen, Amy was quick to jokingly shut down any suggestion that we\u2019ve seen the real her yet.<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about!\u2019<\/p>\n

But when pushed on just how dangerous Becky could become as the storyline builds towards its next major turning point, Amy didn\u2019t hold back.<\/p>\n

\u2018Yeah, well, I mean she\u2019s a woman on a mission to get what she wants, and I think it is a life or death situation for her if she doesn\u2019t get her wife and her daughter back,\u2019 she explained. \u2018I don\u2019t see how she will go on, she\u2019s really dangerous, she will do anything, and she can dehumanise people around her to do what she needs to do to them, without going into too many details, she\u2019s a wrong\u2019un.\u2019<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a chilling description that confirms Becky isn\u2019t just a temporary obstacle; she\u2019s a fully-fledged threat, driven by desperation and obsession. As the crossover episode looms and tensions rise, it\u2019s clear Becky\u2019s actions will have serious consequences.<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, fan reaction has been intense.<\/p>\n

Viewers have been vocal online, with many furious at Becky\u2019s interference, particularly where Swarla are concerned, while at the same time praising Amy\u2019s performance. It\u2019s a balance that many soap villains struggle to strike, but one Amy seems to be navigating with grace.<\/p>\n

Asked how it feels to see fans demanding answers and crying out, \u2018Who are you? What are you doing to Swarla?!\u2019, Amy revealed just how deep the connection runs.<\/p>\n

\u2018I mean, I have to say, I had heard of Swarla, but I had no idea how passionate and loyal that fanbase was,\u2019 she admitted. \u2018But I have to say, those fans are extraordinary, because some of the most hardcore fans have reached out to me personally and sent me letters and care packages, and it takes a lot of generosity.<\/p>\n

\u2018If you\u2019re so invested in a couple, to reach out to the person who is destroying that couple, even though it\u2019s acting to say \u201cI really hope you\u2019re okay\u201d, \u201cwe hate Becky, but we really like you, and we hope you\u2019re looking after yourself\u201d.\u2019<\/p>\n

Amy also revealed that some fans are genuinely concerned about the toll playing such a dark character might take.<\/p>\n

\u2018I think they\u2019re worried about my mental health<\/a> playing someone who quite clearly needs quite a lot of therapy and probably some medication at the same time,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n

Despite the chaos Becky causes, Amy clearly understands why fans are so protective of Swarla, and she even hopes the storyline ultimately strengthens that bond.<\/p>\n

\u2018I mean, it\u2019s really nice, Swarla are the most extraordinary couple, and I hope people see Becky as a virus they\u2019re going to immunise themselves against <\/a>and get stronger from.\u2019<\/p>\n

That striking metaphor became even more pointed when Amy leaned fully into it.<\/p>\n

\u2018Oh yeah, she\u2019s a virus, she\u2019s covid<\/a>, she keeps mutating and turning into new strains of evil.\u2019<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a line that perfectly sums up Becky\u2019s role in the story: constantly evolving, increasingly dangerous, and impossible to ignore.<\/p>\n

As Corriedale approaches and Becky\u2019s mission intensifies, one thing is clear: this villain isn\u2019t going quietly. With Amy Cudden embracing Becky\u2019s darkness and fans more emotionally invested than ever, Coronation Street looks set for some explosive weeks ahead, and Becky\u2019s most dangerous strain may still be to come.<\/p>\n
