Huey Morgan will be leaving his BBC 6 Music<\/a> show, while Nick Bright will also be leaving his long-running 1Xtra show, according to announcements from the broadcaster.<\/p>\n

The former Fun Lovin\u2019 Criminals<\/a> frontman has hosted The Huey Show since October 2008, but will host its final episode on December 27. No reason was given for the decision, and the following statement was shared by 6 Music\u2019s Instagram account:<\/p>\n

\u201cHuey Morgan has decided to leave 6 Music and his last show will be on Saturday 27th December. We would like to thank Huey for being part of the 6 Music family for 17 years, and for bringing us all such a brilliant soundtrack to our Saturday mornings.\u201d
The post concluded: \u201cWe will miss him and wish him the very best for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

NME has reached out to Huey Morgan\u2019s representatives for comment. At the time of writing, he is yet to speak about the departure publicly.<\/p>\n

Nick Bright has been with BBC<\/a> 1Xtra since 2010, and is known from hosting the weekend breakfast and Saturday mid-morning programmes over the years. His final show will be 10am-1pm on Saturday January 3.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter 15 years with the network, Nick Bright has chosen to leave the station, with his final show broadcasting on Saturday 3 January,\u201d the 1Xtra Instagram account posted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to thank Nick for 15 fantastic years at 1Xtra, to which he has brought great energy and enthusiasm. He will always be a part of the 1Xtra family and we wish him the very best for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an Instagram story, Bright wrote: \u201cSo much to say that I can\u2019t really put it into words right now. To anyone that has been a part of this journey, thank you.\u201d<\/p>\n

New York-born musician Morgan rose to fame as the frontman of The Fun Lovin\u2019 Criminals, who found particular success in the UK with three top 10 albums and eight top 40 singles.
Morgan stepped down from the group in late 2021<\/a>. In a statement at the time, the remaining members wished him \u201call the best with his endeavours\u201d and said they would \u201ccontinue as Fun Lovin\u2019 Criminals\u201d.<\/p>\n

However, in 2023, he would criticise the current lineup on social media<\/a>, describing them as \u201cfrauds and cowards\u201d as well as being a \u201ctribute act\u201d.<\/p>\n

During his radio career, Morgan caused controversy in 2012 by criticising fellow 6 Radio DJ Lauren Laverne<\/a>, calling himself \u201cthe people\u2019s champ\u201d and saying Laverne \u201cjust shows up and plays on Twitter\u201d. He would later apologise to the presenter for his comments.<\/p>\n

This year, he published his autobiography, The Fun Lovin\u2019 Criminal, which charted the rise of the band, Morgan\u2019s struggles with mental health, and stories from \u201890s New York.
