Pink Floyd<\/a> have shared the music video for \u2018Wish You Were Here\u2019, 50 years after its release.<\/p>\n

The classic 1975 record was reissued with new digital and physical editions for its 50th anniversary earlier this month<\/a>. Now, they\u2019ve also shared a music video for the title track.<\/p>\n

The video opens with a clip of the moon, before a string of disorientating images begin to flash on the screen, including sperm racing toward an egg, an eye filled with flames, and lights zipping through darkness.<\/p>\n

It then cuts to intimate shots of the band, showing\u00a0nostalgic footage of them in the studio and running through a subway station. Throughout, psychedelic animations of a figurine floating through time and space are also featured.<\/p>\n

Last Friday (December 19), it was announced that the reissued record had topped the Official Albums Chart in time for Christmas<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The record also topped the charts on its original release in 1975, and its success means that Pink Floyd are now the artist with the longest span between their first and last Number One albums, clocking in at 2,620 weeks, or over 50 years.<\/p>\n

It is Pink Floyd\u2019s second Number One album of the year, following on from \u2018Pink Floyd At Pompeii \u2013 MCMLXXII<\/a>\u2018, the live album of a 1971 show that was released as a concert film in 1972 and re-released\u00a0with newly mixed audio earlier this year.<\/p>\n

To mark the re-release of \u2018Wish You Were Here\u2019,\u00a0Pink Floyd launched a series of pop-up stores across the UK, Europe and the US<\/a>, where they are also selling an exclusive edition of the Brain Damage fanzine.<\/p>\n

In addition,\u00a0Noel Fielding<\/a>\u00a0created some paintings inspired by<\/a>\u00a0Syd Barrett<\/a>\u00a0to celebrate the reissue of\u00a0Pink Floyd\u2019s \u2018Shine On You Crazy Diamond\u2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Pink Floyd have shared the music video for \u2018Wish You Were Here\u2019, 50 years after its release.
