Gabriel Bortoleto believes he “did everything” having taken ninth place in the Belgian Grand Prix, while Kick Sauber team mate Nico Hulkenberg hopes this weekend’s race in Hungary “should suit us better”.<\/p>\n
The pair ran amongst the midfield runners last weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, with Bortoleto<\/a> reaching Q3 and running inside the points where he was joined by Hulkenberg<\/a> who started outside the top 10.<\/p>\n Having been allowed ahead of his team mate after falling back during the pit stop phase, Bortoleto managed to keep his medium tyres working to reach the chequered flag in ninth, his second points finish in three races after claiming eighth in Austria.<\/p>\n “I feel like we did everything we could with the car,” he said. “Obviously you always expect a lot these conditions when it’s raining and it dries up, everything can happen in the race. But honestly P9 was what we could do today.<\/p>\n “The car was there and I think [Liam] Lawson was a bit faster and he deserves the P8 points and I feel like I did everything, so I need to be happy about that.<\/p>\n “Obviously I always want more and that’s why… I really want to get there and do a better result than what I did in Austria, that was a P8, but we need to be grateful and I feel like that’s it for today.”<\/p>\n Hulkenberg, who entered the weekend having taken his maiden F1 podium last time out at Silverstone, was running in the points but was forced to make a second pit stop as he was unable to manage the tyre wear on his mediums as much as Bortoleto.<\/p>\n Despite a charge back up the order, he finished P12 but hopes the Hungaroring this weekend will suit Sauber’s car more with its many corners, hot temperatures and abrasive tyre wear.<\/p>\n “A couple of lessons learnt I think. Good progress, obviously no result which is always a bit of a let down but Gabi got some points which is good for us in the Teams’ Championship,” said the German.<\/p>\n “I think we were competitive once again in the midfield, we’re fighting with the usual suspects and I think that’s a positive.
