Josh Windass may have already made his feelings clear regarding a potential return to Rangers in the January transfer window. <\/p>\n
The 31-year-old already has six goals to his name for Wrexham in the Championship<\/a> this term, but he could be ready to move on again in next month\u2019s window. <\/p>\n Rangers are now being linked with Windass on a loan deal<\/a>, as they bid to add the firepower that they need to chase down Hearts<\/a> at the top of the Premiership<\/a> table. <\/p>\n The former Ibrox star previously played under Danny Rohl<\/a> during his time at Sheffield Wednesday, and the German is now eyeing a renewal of that relationship.<\/p>\n Rangers fans were fuming when the links with Windass<\/a> first emerged, and it is certainly a move that would raise eyebrows across the Premiership if a deal is ultimately struck. <\/p>\n Rohl has already outlined his former star as a \u201ctop target\u201d for the January window, according to the Scottish Sun<\/a>, with a sensational return potentially on the cards.<\/p>\n The attacker notched 19 league goal involvements for the Glasgow giants back in the 2017-18 campaign, but promptly left to join Wigan Athletic the following year, and hasn\u2019t returned to Scottish football since. <\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n However, a return to Ibrox was also a possibility at one stage last summer, and that prompted the Englishman to show his hand somewhat in terms of his desire to move back to his former club.<\/p>\n Windass praised Rangers<\/a> during an interview with The Athletic<\/a>, where he suggested that he had \u201csome really good times there\u201d and also branded it as a \u201cgreat club.\u201d<\/p>\n The forward cited that the timing was wrong to move back north of the border on that occasion, but with his former boss Rohl now at the helm, the situation could be different this winter. <\/p>\n Windass\u2019 record under Danny Rohl<\/p>\n Windass was a crucial player for Rohl<\/a> during their time together at Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>, and he quickly became one of the first names on the teamsheet for the young boss.<\/p>\n![\"Rangers](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/imago1069044083-scaled-1-1024x732.jpg\")
