Former Warrington Wolves and Castleford Tigers prop Samy Kibula has landed a new club ahead of 2026, and will feature in the Championship.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old Wigan Warriors academy product will join Swinton Lions, as he returns to the side he featured on loan 12 times at across 2018 and 2019.<\/p>\n

Making his Super League debut for the Cherry and Whites in 2018, he would move to Warrington Wolves in 2020, before switches to Bradford Bulls and Batley Bulldogs.<\/p>\n

He joined Castleford in 2024, moving to the club alongside boss Craig Lingard. He would make six appearances for the club, before featuring for Batley once again in 2025.<\/p>\n

Now, he will link up with former Warrington man Paul Wood at Swinton, as he looks to continue his rugby league career.<\/p>\n

The Lions have already had their first game of the 2026 campaign, after travelling to North Wales Crusaders last weekend in a pre-season friendly. They were unsuccessful in their efforts, losing out 30-6.<\/p>\n

Ex-Super League prop Samy Kibula joins Championship club<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really happy to be joining the club again,\u201d Kibula said upon signing. \u201cI played here a few years ago and have great memories from that time, so it feels good to be back.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a bad knee injury last year, but I\u2019ve worked hard and I\u2019m focused on putting that behind me now. I\u2019m looking forward to getting stuck in, contributing to the team, and enjoying my rugby again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Coach Wood added: \u201cWe\u2019ve been looking for another prop forward since the decision that Adam Sidlow was going to retire, so we were in the market for a like-for-like replacement.<\/p>\n

\u201cSamy fits the mould perfectly. He\u2019s only 26, but he brings size, power, and experience at both Super League and Championship level.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not a one-dimensional prop \u2014 he can play with the ball and fits exactly what we\u2019re looking for in the Swinton system. Once he\u2019s match fit, we feel he\u2019ll have a real impact and presence on the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cSamy has clear aspirations to get back to the top level. For him to come in, add experience, leadership, and presence, and be part of our journey this year is really exciting. We\u2019re really looking forward to working with him over the next 12 months.\u201d<\/p>\n
