We are blessed with some of the most historic, innovative and beautiful architecture in the world and we must match this with our new designs to ensure they fit in seamlessly with their stunning surroundings.”

 Neil Brown (Image: harry archer)

A key on-going project is the St Peter’s School Masterplan, where brown + company is leading the redesign of the historic school campus, dating back to 672 AD. This will enable St Peter’s to be divided into two distinct parts, St Peter’s Junior School and St Peter’s Senior School, rather than the current three. A number of projects at the school have already been completed.

Meanwhile brown + company’s designs at 8 St Paul’s Street in Leeds will see an underutilized existing office building transformed into a new Grade A office space. Situated in Leeds city centre, the office building will become the new head office for W Denis, a national insurance broker. The scheme is due to be completed early next year.

At the same time, the practice is working closely with the Hotham Hall Estate in East Yorkshire, on sensitive heritage-led proposals for the stable block and a new spa building. Once completed, members of the public will be to appreciate and use these superb new facilities.

Other highlights this year has included the arrival of talented architects Rachael Barker and Erin Sherrard to strengthen the award-winning team and the sponsorship of local sports teams including York RUFC, St Peter’s School and Bishopthorpe White Rose FC.

Parliament Street designs in York (Image: Supplied)

Looking ahead to 2026, brown + company will be working on a number of important commissions, including the 4-6 Parliament Street, where the former New Look building is being transformed into a self-contained Aparthotel; the repurposing of the iconic Mount Royale Hotel into four luxury homes; and the launching of a 762-bed purpose-built student accommodation/co-living development in Exeter.

Mr Brown said: “2025 was an extremely exciting and productive year for us as we launched, and in some cases concluded, some very special projects across the UK. With several prestigious commissions in the pipeline and supported by our partners Manchester-based architects Leach Rhodes Walker, we expect 2026 to be ever better.
