Terence Crawford announced his retirement from the sport of boxing earlier this month, hanging up the gloves off the back of a win over Saul \u2018Canelo\u2019 Alvarez.<\/p>\n
\u2018Bud\u2019 Crawford became a three-time undisputed world champion when he dethroned the Mexican icon, making a two-division jump for the challenge and largely cruising to a unanimous decision victory.<\/p>\n
It wasn\u2019t long until Canelo announced that he was targeting a rematch, and many felt that it was one of the only big money fights out there for Crawford, even despite the convincing nature in which he won.<\/p>\n
To nip any rumours in the bud, the American announced via social media that he was walking away undefeated and on top of him game.<\/a>He has largely been praised for the decision, with the likes of Andre Ward and Roy Jones Jr backing him.<\/a><\/p>\n Still, some, including promoter Eddie Hearn, have suggested that the announcement could well be a bargaining chip for future fight negotiations.<\/p>\n On a recent livestream with Adin Ross, Crawford was asked if he had ever been contacted about a return fight.<\/p>\n \u201cNo. Never.\u201d<\/p>\n Asked if it\u2019s something he would consider, he said:<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s over with. If there was a rematch clause in the contract then I\u2019d have to honour that, but it\u2019s over with.\u201d<\/p>\n The decision leaves Alvarez, who has vowed to continue fighting, in a tricky spot.
