An investigation has been launched after a man was allegedly raped in Lewes.<\/p>\n
The victim was reportedly assaulted by Pells Pool in the Sussex town between 10pm onChristmas<\/a> Eve and 3am on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n The man, thought to be in his 30s, is receiving support from specialist officers while an increased police presence is expected to remain in the area amid ongoing enquiries.<\/p>\n Witnesses or anyone with information is urged to come forward to assist the investigation.<\/p>\n Pells Pool is a public outdoor swimming baths in Lewes. <\/p>\n \t\t\t\tSign up for all of the latest stories\t\t\t<\/p>\n Start your day informed with Metro’s News Updates<\/a> newsletter or get Breaking News<\/a> alerts the moment it happens. <\/p>\n The original structure was built in 1860 making it the oldest freshwater outdoor public swimming baths in the United Kingdom still operating.<\/p>\n Detective Inspector Gavin Patch, said: \u2018Following the launch of this investigation, we would like to reassure the public that a dedicated team continues to work<\/a> diligently to explore all available lines of enquiry.<\/p>\n \u2018As part of this work, police presence can be expected in the Pells Pool and Brook Street areas, as well as in other parts of Lewes, including around Eastgate Street and Lansdown Place.<\/p>\n \u2018Members of the public can also play a vital role in helping us build a clearer picture of events, whether they are local residents or were visiting the area.<\/p>\n \u2018Were you in Lewes on Christmas Eve night and did you see anything suspicious?
