British brand River Island<\/a> will be closing 32 of its stores in January 2026, as part of a restructuring plan to help save the iconic retailer. The fashion brand reported a \u00a332.3million pre-tax loss last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

River Island currently has over 200 shops across the UK and employs over 5,000 staff, putting many of these jobs at risk. A number of high-street stores have closed down this year<\/a>, including major supermarkets like Marks and Spencer<\/a>, which closed its Wolverhampton store on Dudley Street a few months ago. Morrisons<\/a> also shut down over 100 cafes, florists, and pharmacies this year,<\/a> and Poundland’s 800 stores are being reduced to 650, with more closures expected in 2026.<\/p>\n
