When Terence Crawford<\/a> first flirted with the idea of moving up to 168 pounds to take on Canelo Alvarez<\/a>, most believed he lost his mind.
No one questioned his skill set, but, at the time, he’d never fought above 154. Nevertheless, he had no trouble with the bigger man en route to a convincing unanimous decision victory<\/a> on September 13.
Crawford, who has since announced his retirement<\/a> at 38, said 168 was his perfect weight.<\/p>\n

\u201c168,\u201d Crawford told Adin Ross, a popular online streamer, when asked which weight class he felt most comfortable in. \u201cDefinitely 168.\u201d<\/p>\n

Crawford, who started his career as a 135-pounder, leaves the game as a five-division champion and a three-time undisputed titlist.<\/p>\n

He now wonders how he was able to squeeze down to those lower weight classes earlier in his career. <\/p>\n

\u201cI was obviously smaller, but I was killing myself to make that weight,\u201d said Crawford said, referring to 135 pounds. \u201cIt was the same way with 140.\u201d<\/p>\n
