A finance influencer has sparked a debate by claiming that \u20b95 crore is not enough to retire comfortably in India. <\/p>\n

A finance influencer has sparked a debate by claiming that \u20b95 crore is not enough to retire comfortably in India. Sumit Behal, a Gurugram-based influencer, triggered a heated conversation on salaries and net worth with his polarising post.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou cannot retire on 5 Crore in India,\u201d Behal posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) yesterday. In less than 24 hours, the post has collected over 2 lakh views and dozens of comments.<\/p>\n

He did not specify whether he meant \u20b95 crore in liquid assets or total net worth.<\/p>\n

Is \u20b95 crore enough?<\/p>\n

Many social media users disagreed with Behal\u2019s take, pointing out that a corpus for retirement depends upon one\u2019s lifestyle and spending habits.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf one has own house and 2 kids or less, 5 cr is more than enough if asset allocation is proper or bucket strategy is followed. If one does not have their own house and wants to buy one, it is a different story\u2026\u201d one X user posted.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne can retire with that amount. What is more challenging is medical cost. That’s a grey area. Hence keep working,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n

\u201c \u20b95 crore retirement may work in a Tier-3 city with an owned home . In Tier-1 & Tier-2 cities, it\u2019s extremely tough,\u201d an X user named Naveen opined.<\/p>\n

Some say \u2018ragebait\u2019<\/p>\n

Many were of the opinion that \u20b95 crore is more than enough to retire comfortably, and accused the finance influencer of posting \u2018ragebait\u2019 to farm engagement.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou cannot retire on \u20b95 crore\u201d \u2014 said every doom-monger who forgets some people live below metro extravagance,\u201d a person said.<\/p>\n
