Excitement has been building since August for the opening of the new glow-in-the-dark mini-golf centre called Globalls. It will be opening at the former site of Iceland in St Thomas Street in Weymouth.

The premises have been empty for four years after Iceland closed its doors.

It was revealed back in September that Globalls was planning to open either at the end of November or early December.

However, it has now been revealed that the project has been put back due to shipping and delivery delays of the giant structures of animals and dinosaurs that will go inside the two-hole golf course.

As a result, Globalls is anticipating opening in spring next year, and has thanked the community for their continual support.

Issuing an update to the Echo, a spokesperson for Globalls said: “We’re looking now at an opening date some time in the spring. We don’t have an exact date just yet but we want the best possible experience for everyone in Weymouth and a lot of care has gone into the creation.

“People are very interested in what we have going on and it’s been great to see the excitement so far – it has been such a positive response.

“The upstairs is pretty far along now in terms of the set-up with the artwork getting there. The dinosaur course below is getting to the painting stage.

“We have these larger than life massive models of elephants and dinosaurs and there has been a shipping delay in getting these brand-new models down to Weymouth.

“No two courses in our five hole course at Brighton or two hole course at Weymouth are the same and are entirely unique. With spring fast approaching we can not wait to welcome everyone.”

Globalls has previously confirmed that 10 full-time and part-time jobs will be created at the site as a result of the new attraction starting up.
