When people think of longevity in Coronation Stree<\/a>t, they immediately think of William Roache<\/a>, who\u2019s tenure on the cobbles as Ken Barlow<\/a> stretches all the way back to 1960 and the soap\u2019s first ever episode.<\/p>\n Coming in in second place, though, is Michael Le Vell<\/a>, who\u2019s played Kevin Webster<\/a> since 1983 when he was just 18 years old. Our Kev\u2019 has been a stalwart of Weatherfield ever since, with only two small breaks taken, clocking up a 42 year run.<\/p>\n The historic cross-over episode between ITV\u2019s two soaps, Corriedale<\/a>, is rapidly approaching, with bosses promising carnage<\/a>, destruction and, above all else, a high death toll<\/a>. With our favourite Mancunian mechanic on the cast list<\/a>, could we see the end of Mr. Webster?<\/p>\n Apparently, no, with Michael announcing that he\u2019s signed another contract, which will keep him in his overalls for at least another year.<\/p>\n Michael Le Vell\u2019s new Corrie contract<\/p>\n \t\t Speaking to The Mirror<\/a>, Michael said: \u2018You can never take the job for granted. My contract was due in January and I\u2019ve just been offered a new one, so I can breathe a sigh of relief for another year, but you can never look beyond that.<\/p>\n \u2018They might say \u201cyou know what, we can\u2019t write for you, we don\u2019t know what to write for you anymore. Thank you and goodbye.\u201d That\u2019s the nature of the beast.\u2019<\/p>\n Opening up about the nerves he still experiences while filming the show, Michael said: \u2018Not a day goes by where I don\u2019t get nervous. I get a churning stomach and I feel apprehensive, especially if I\u2019m in every scene. <\/p>\n \u2018It\u2019s even more stressful if I\u2019m in a scene with someone like Bill Roache or Barbara Knox \u2013 mainly out of respect \u2013 or if I\u2019m in a big scene in the Rovers. If there are lots of people in the pub, when it comes to your bit, you\u2019re thinking \u201cdon\u2019t mess up, don\u2019t mess up.\u201d Otherwise, they\u2019ll all have to go back and do their dialogue again, so that\u2019s an added pressure.\u2019<\/p>\n Kevin Webster\u2019s role in Corriedale<\/p>\n \t\t Speaking on his honour at being asked to participate in the soap event of the century, Michael said: \u2018It was an honour to be part of Corriedale because these things don\u2019t come around too often.<\/p>\n \u2018I was in a scene with a couple of Emmerdale actors \u2013 Jeff Hordley<\/a> (Cain Dingle<\/a>) and Danny Miller<\/a> (Aaron Dingle<\/a>) \u2013 as we tried to move a crashed car, which was great.\u2019<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tDon’t miss a Soaps scoop! I think they\u2019re a great couple, so I wouldn\u2019t want them splitting up, just so I can get back with Sally.\u2019<\/p>\n Michael, however, has his eyes on another Sally for a reunion. Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster, that is.<\/p>\n \u2018I\u2019d get back with Abi, because I love working with Sally Carman.
