Wolves are all but certain to be relegated to the Championship following their miserable first half of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wolves lost 2-1 to Liverpool<\/a> on Saturday (27 December), ensuring they remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table on just two points. <\/p>\n

Rob Edwards<\/a> is facing an uphill battle to turn the West Midlands side\u2019s fortunes around after being appointed as their new manager last month. <\/p>\n

It has been confirmed former executive chairman\u00a0Jeff Shi has stepped down<\/a>\u00a0from his role after spending almost 10 years at Molineux.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shi<\/a>\u00a0will remain chairman and chief executive of Fosun Sports Group<\/a> \u2013 the company that owns\u00a0Wolves<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 but he will have no operational duties associated with the club.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Former Man City<\/a> financial adviser Stefan Borson<\/a> exclusively told Football Insider Wolves are set for a \u201cbig overhaul\u201d as they prepare for life in the Championship. <\/p>\n

There has been plenty of\u00a0speculation around a Wolves takeover<\/a>\u00a0over the past few months, with Fosun believed to value the club at more than \u00a3350million. <\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider\u00a0about the significance of Shi\u2019s departure,\u00a0Borson\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cI think it\u2019s just a culmination of changes that are going to be required. The club is not really set up for the Championship. <\/p>\n

\u201cI would assume that they\u2019ve all got relegation clauses, so that\u2019s positive in that they\u2019ll be able to reduce the playing side wage bill in half let\u2019s say. That will insulate them somewhat. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey do tend to be good sellers of players. They\u2019ve probably got a couple of players that they\u2019ll be able to sell that might save them on the P&S position on relegation, so that might be okay. But I think there\u2019s going to have to be a big overhaul generally.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wolves fans have protested against their owners<\/a>\u00a0following the club\u2019s on-field performances and the decision-making behind the scenes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Fosun has received Wolves takeover offers<\/p>\n

Borson insisted relegation to the Championship would be a \u201cdisaster\u201d for Fosun in its hopes of selling Wolves. <\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, the club was for sale anyway,\u201d said Borson. <\/p>\n

\u201cThey have been receiving offers. It\u2019s a disaster for them in that respect. If you\u2019re trying to sell a club and then you get relegated, you obviously have got yourself a problem because the value is going to change materially, unless you can guarantee a bounce back.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think anybody really can guarantee the bounce back from the Championship. It\u2019s a very competitive league and we\u2019ll have to see what the shape of the squad is next season and how they start, so they\u2019ve got a big problem.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wolves are 16 points from safety at the bottom of the Premier League table, while their next fixture sees them take on Man United<\/a> at Old Trafford on Tuesday (30 December). <\/p>\n
