Sounds like the perfect recipe for a successful Christening, no? No?!<\/p>\n Lauren Branning<\/a>\u00a0(Jacqueline Jossa<\/a>) and\u00a0Peter Beale<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0(Thomas Law<\/a>) deliberating yesterday saw Max Branning<\/a>\u00a0(Jake Wood<\/a>)\u00a0uninvited to avoid a clash with Cindy Beale<\/a>\u00a0(Michelle Collins<\/a>), then re-invited and finally uninvited again. <\/p>\n The young couple, completely unaware that their respective father and mother had enjoyed an anonymous bunk up on Christmas Day endeavoured to keep them apart due to Max\u2019s part in Cindy\u2019s son, Steven\u2019s (Aaron Sidwell) death<\/a>.<\/p>\n Max followed Linda Carter<\/a>\u2019s\u00a0(Kellie Bright<\/a>) advice and rocked up to the Christening anyway, where he was instantly questioned as to his attendance. When Max recognised his Christmas dinner as Cindy and revealed his own identity to her, their jaws dropped.<\/p>\n \t\t Today\u2019s trip to Walford drops us off exactly where we left off yesterday, with the Beale\/Branning contingent demanding that Max leave. Lauren makes it abundantly clear that she\u2019s sick of her dad making special days, such as her wedding, all about him.<\/p>\n As Cindy lays into Max, he tries to quell things, suggesting they \u2018bite down on it\u2019. Cindy snaps back that she seems to remember him saying something similar prior\u2026ooh-er!<\/p>\n As the conversation turns to Steven, Cindy unloads an almighty slap across Max\u2019s chops and I mean, almighty. Max responds by revealing their festive bunk up. Penny Branning<\/a>\u00a0(Kitty Castledine<\/a>) spells it out to the disbelieving families: \u2018Santa left some ginger nuts in Cindy\u2019s stocking\u2019.<\/p>\n We\u2019re less than three minutes in and the innuendo levels are hitting the roof, and in a church of all places\u2026<\/p>\n \t\t As the congregation reels, Peter\u2019s blood is boiling as Max denigrates his mum. Combined with his fury at the slew of ruined special days, he delivers a vicious punch to Max, before receiving one in return.<\/p>\n Surely Max has concussion by now? How many knocks to the head has he taken this week alone?<\/p>\n Anyway\u2026brother Jack<\/a>\u00a0(Scott Maslen<\/a>) swoops in to remove Max. As further Beales and Brannings spill from the church, Max throws himself on Louie\u2019s (Jake McNally) mercy and finds none, with his grandson following suit by ordering him to leave.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\tDon’t miss a Soaps scoop! It takes a barb from Oscar<\/a>\u00a0(Pierre Counihan-Moullier<\/a>) to shift him over to Harry\u2019s Barn, where he flirts with Nicola Mitchell<\/a>\u00a0(Laura Doddington<\/a>).<\/p>\n \t\t Linda comes to comfort Max, who opens up about losing Abi Junior to ex-wife Tanya Branning<\/a>\u00a0(Jo Joyner<\/a>). When Linda gently presses to find out if the root cause of the disruption was a woman, Max snaps, fed up of peoples snide comments and judgemental attitudes and lays into Linda, causing her to withdraw.<\/p>\n Softening, he later finds her at Peacock\u2019s Palace and apologises. Dropping his ice cold front, tears flow as Max regrets his failings as a parent, drawing Linda\u2019s supportive side out once again. Declaring that she knows Max has a heart deep down and that he\u2019ll eventually figure things out.<\/p>\n Her words clearly land and Max thanks her genuinely and heads to bed for an early night, right?<\/p>\n Don\u2019t be daft.
