{"id":344050,"date":"2025-12-31T04:50:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-31T04:50:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/344050\/"},"modified":"2025-12-31T04:50:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-31T04:50:07","slug":"floyd-mayweathers-boxing-comeback-chances-increase-with-latest-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/344050\/","title":{"rendered":"Floyd Mayweather&#8217;s boxing comeback chances increase with latest development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr. could be set to end a nine-year hiatus from the ring and return to the professional scene next year, after collapsed talks for a world title contest have opened the door for a lucrative opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>Mayweather hung up the gloves following a stoppage win against Conor McGregor in the famous \u2018Money Fight\u2019 between the respective superstars of boxing and mixed martial arts back in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, \u2018TBE\u201d has fought solely in exhibitions and raked in further cash, but a return to professional fighting has been mentioned continuously, especially after the comeback of perennial rival Manny Pacquiao in the summer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/manny-pacquiao-boxes-to-a-majority-draw-against-mario-barrios\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pacquiao could only muster a draw upon his return<\/a>, coming extremely close to dethroning Mario Barrios and claiming the WBC welterweight title despite an extended period of inactivity.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the Filipino icon had been linked to another world title bout, with strong suggestions that an <a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/manny-pacquiao-expected-to-face-romero-for-world-title-with-fight-date-revealed\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announcement for a meeting with WBA champion Rolando Romero was imminent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is now understood that talks for that scrap have collapsed and that \u2018Rolly\u2019 will instead be made to fulfil his mandatory and attempt to defend his belt against Uzbekistan\u2019s Shakhram Giysaov.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/ringmagazine.com\/en\/news\/manny-pacquiao-rolly-romero-talks-break-down\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The Ring<\/a>, Giyasov\u2019s manager, Vadim Kornilov, explained that he and his fighter would have been willing to wait for their shot, if the fight between Pacquiao and Romero was going ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think an exception works when there\u2019s no fight and it\u2019s not announced,\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf [the Romero-Pacquiao fight] was happening, that\u2019s one thing; we have a lot respect for a fight like that and for Pacquiao especially.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut when there is no fight, I believe that rules have to be followed and Rolly has to fight Giyasov.
