Mia McKenna-Bruce, who is set to star\u00a0in the upcoming\u00a0Beatles<\/a>\u00a0biopics, has revealed she was not a fan of the band when she took the job.<\/p>\n

In October, the\u00a0BAFTA<\/a> Rising Star-winning actor, best known for her lead role in the acclaimed indie drama\u00a0How To Have Sex<\/a>,\u00a0was revealed to be playing Maureen Starkey<\/a>, the wife of\u00a0Ringo Starr<\/a>, in the films.<\/p>\n

In a new interview with\u00a0Tatler\u00a0(via the\u00a0Independent<\/a>), she confided that her knowledge of the Fab Four was severely limited at the time that she accepted the role.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe sang \u2018Eleanor Rigby\u2019 and \u2018Yellow Submarine\u2019 at school, but it\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0my jam,\u201d the 28-year-old said, before revealing that it was while she was on set with Martin Freeman for the upcoming\u00a0Netflix<\/a>\u00a0series\u00a0Agatha Christie\u2019s Seven Dials\u00a0that she was introduced to them more extensively.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cOn\u00a0Seven Dials, Martin Freeman was asking me to name all The Beatles \u2013 I\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0know. Then\u00a0he\u2019d\u00a0ask me, \u2018what band was\u00a0Mick Jagger<\/a> in?\u2019 I was like, \u2018I have no idea, Martin\u2019. Now I\u2019m like, oh my god, The Beatles are underrated. This is good. It\u2019s music I\u2019d sit and listen to on the train,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Sam Mendes (1917<\/a>,\u00a0Skyfall<\/a>,\u00a0American Beauty)\u00a0is directing the four separate films<\/a>, with each one set to focus on a different member of the band.\u00a0The Beatles \u2013 A Four-Film Cinematic Event\u00a0is currently slated for an April 2028 release.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year,\u00a0it was confirmed that Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon and Paul Mescal will portray Paul McCartney<\/a>, while Joseph Quinn and\u00a0Barry Keoghan<\/a>\u00a0will play\u00a0George Harrison<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Ringo Starr<\/a>\u00a0respectively.<\/p>\n

Sony Pictures later confirmed that four-time\u00a0Oscar<\/a>\u00a0nominee Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird<\/a>, Brooklyn) will play\u00a0Linda McCartney<\/a>\u00a0in the films,\u00a0a casting decision that had been widely rumoured<\/a>. Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus<\/a>,\u00a0Film Club) will play George Harrison\u2019s partner Pattie Boyd,\u00a0while\u00a0Anna Sawai (Shogun<\/a>) will portray\u00a0Yoko Ono<\/a>.<\/p>\n

David Morrissey will play McCartney\u2019s father Jim<\/a>, while\u00a0Line Of Duty<\/a>\u00a0star Leanne Best \u2013 the niece of real-life original Beatles drummer Pete \u2013 will play Lennon\u2019s Aunt Mimi\u00a0and\u00a0James Norton will be Beatles manager Brian Epstein<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ringo met Maureen in 1962 when she was 16 and working as a hairdresser, and they were married from 1965 to 1975. Maureen passed away in 1994.<\/p>\n

In May, Barry Keoghan discussed meeting Ringo prior to playing the drummer in the films. <\/a>Describing his nerves at meeting the legend, the Irishman said: \u201cWhen I was talking to him, I\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0look at him. I was nervous, like right now. But\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0like, \u2018You can look at me,\u2019\u201d he recalled. \u201cMy job is to\u00a0observe\u00a0and\u00a0kinda\u00a0take in mannerisms and study him.
