Happy New Year! 2025 is now a thing of the past (you may find a solid Star Wars recap here<\/a>), and we\u2019re looking ahead at 2026. Today, we\u2019ll be breaking down all\u00a0scheduled\u00a0Star Wars releases for this year, from feature films (yes, finally!) to all planned comics releases.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Star Wars Feature Films Coming in 2026: The Mandalorian and Grogu<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

After a lot of failed attempts over the years, 2026 will finally see the return of Star Wars to the big screen. That\u2019s thanks to director Jon Favreau and\u00a0The Mandalorian and Grogu, which is set to take off on May 22.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The majority of the story details are currently being kept under wraps, but we do have a generic plot synopsis (see below), as well as some details: Sigourney Weaver\u2019s Colonel Ward sends Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu on a mission in the Outer Rim, in which they find Rotta the Hutt, voiced by Jeremy Allen White. We also know that some characters from The Mandalorian Season 3 are returning, including Zeb (voiced by Steve Blum) and some of the Imperial Warlords that made up the Shadow Council.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

From what we know, the movie came together as a strategy pivot when, in 2023, the Hollywood strikes prevented Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni from starting production on The Mandalorian\u00a0Season 4 as early as they expected. Though not confirmed officially, it\u2019s supposed to be a condensed version of the Season 4 scripts, adapted to a big-screen format.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

What happens next to the\u00a0Mandalorian sub-franchise likely depends on the box office response to this movie. If it\u2019s a success, we assume Disney and Lucasfilm might continue the story on the big screen, and if not, they will evaluate the feasibility of going back to TV.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

After\u00a0The Mandalorian and Grogu, there is already another\u00a0Star Wars movie in the can and ready to be released, though it won\u2019t happen in 2026. Star Wars: Starfighter wrapped production in late 2025, and will come out on May 28, 2027.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Live-Action Series Coming to Star Wars In 2026: Ahsoka Season 2<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The only live-action\u00a0Star Wars series set to debut on Disney Plus this year is the second season of Ahsoka. Filming wrapped this fall, after mirroring the schedule of the first season. This might hint at a late-summer, early-fall release on streaming.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The story is currently being kept tightly under wraps. We know it will follow up on the ending of Season 1, with Baylan Skoll (this time around played by Rory McCann) tracking down the Mortis Gods in Peridea, where Shin, Sabine, and Ahsoka were also stranded. In the meantime, Ezra and Thrawn made their way back to our main galaxy.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Showrunner Dave Filoni promised an all-out war in Season 2 during\u00a0Star Wars Celebration, adding that the New Republic forces will be led by none other than Admiral Ackbar. Hayden Christensen is back as well, though we don\u2019t know yet if only as a Force ghost or in Clone Wars-era flashbacks once again. A sizzle reel shown at the convention also confirmed that Zeb will be reunited with the Rebels crew. In addition, recent interviews<\/a> with supporting actresses playing the Nightsisters in the first season also confirmed that we\u2019ll get a lot more screen time with them in Season 2.<\/p>\n

Animated Series Coming to Star Wars In 2026<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Maul: Shadow Lord<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

One of the big announcements at\u00a0Star Wars\u00a0Celebration 2025 was that Lucasfilm was working on an animated series focused on Darth Maul and set one year after the execution of Order 66, which is also the last time we saw him (i.e., after he battled Ahsoka Tano in Season 7 of\u00a0The Clone Wars). Matt Michnovetz is the head writer.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

We don\u2019t have a release date yet, nor a lot of plot details. A trailer shown at the convention, which hasn\u2019t been made public for now, confirmed that he will be taking an apprentice under his wing, a red-skinned Twi\u2019lek whose name has not been revealed. (In Legends, Maul also takes on a red-skinned Twi\u2019lek who goes on to become Darth Talon, but we don\u2019t know that this will be replicated in the show.)<\/p>\n

Star Wars: Visions Presents \u2013 The Ninth Jedi<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Another big reveal at Celebration was that, following the success of the\u00a0Star Wars Visions episode \u201cThe Ninth Jedi\u201d,\u00a0Production I.G. not only developed a sequel episode that came in Vol. 3, but also a standalone animated series that would be released in 2026. That\u2019s as much as we know<\/a> at this point, but more details will likely come over the next few months.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Potentially\u2026 Another Tales Of Miniseries<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

There is no official word about this yet, but judging from how 2024 and 2025 went, we might get a press release in early April announcing that a six-episode limited animated series will debut on May the Fourth titled\u00a0Tales of [Placeholder], where the placeholder stood for\u00a0Empire<\/a> in 2024 and\u00a0Underworld<\/a> in 2025. We will see.<\/p>\n

Star Wars Video Games Coming In 2026<\/p>\n

Star Wars Zero Company<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Bit Reactor\u2019s long-in-the-making AAA game was officially revealed at\u00a0Star Wars Celebration Japan, but we haven\u2019t heard much about it since. We know it\u2019s set during the Clone Wars, and it will focus on an elite squad of characters fighting for the Republic. Among others, the team includes a Jedi, a clone trooper, a Mandalorian, and an astromech droid. The team behind the game revealed some more details at the time, both about the gameplay and also the characters, which you can read here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

No release date has been confirmed. Respawn Entertainment, which produced the Star Wars Jedi games, also participated in the story. It will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X\/S, and PC.<\/p>\n

Star Wars: Galactic Racer<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

This was a last-minute addition to the list. Lucasfilm Games, in partnership with Fuse Games and Secret Mode, announced during the Game Awards<\/a> in December that there is a second console game coming out in 2026 titled Star Wars: Galactic Racer. We know it will feature the return of Sebulba, and will be centered around racing during the Empire era. No release date has been announced.<\/p>\n

Star Wars Books Coming In 2026<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Eyes Like Stars<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

As described by author Ashley Poston, this is the first novel in a new Star Wars genre initiative that\u2019ll take on romance, thriller, mystery, horror, etc. We know that it\u2019s set shortly before The Force Awakens and focuses on a couple we haven\u2019t met, but we don\u2019t know much else about the story. It\u2019s poised for a summer release.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Star Wars: Legacy<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Written by Madeleine Roux, the novel is set right before the events of\u00a0The Rise of Skywalker and portrays the struggles both by Leia and Rey to figure out a way forward after Luke\u2019s passing at the end of\u00a0The Last Jedi; particularly, in what concerns Rey\u2019s training. The book is also set to feature a trip to Tython, which we saw in\u00a0The Mandalorian Season 2, during which they will try to repair Rey\u2019s lightsaber. Kylo Ren is also featured on the cover, hinting at his inclusion in the story, too. It\u2019s currently set for release on July 28, 2026.<\/p>\n

Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss<\/p>\n

The second entry in the trilogy kick-started by 2025\u2019s The Mask of Fear is written by Rebecca Roanhorse, and though we don\u2019t know much about the story yet, we know it\u2019s set 6BBY, i.e., a few years after the first novel and right before the start of Andor.<\/p>\n

Star Wars Comics Coming Out In 2026<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The state of comics going into 2026 is a little uncertain for\u00a0Star Wars. As we\u2019ll break down, many of the continuing series from 2025 are not confirmed to go on much longer, so we\u2019ll have to wait for more official word on them, which will likely depend on sales.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Additionally, though they are not new releases, in 2026 we will have new collections of past comics hit the stands at comic-book shops. The High Republic Adventures will compile<\/a> all of its comics from Phases II and III into three large paperback editions during 2026. The 2023 crossover series Dark Droids will also be put together in omnibus form<\/a> in August.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Comic Series Continuing Into 2026<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

There are some comic series that were running in 2025 that will continue this year, but unfortunately, some of them will be sunsetted as soon as this month. Legacy of Vader will release its twelfth and final issue in January, while the main\u00a0Star Wars series is not moving forward after issue #10 comes out in February. (Charles Soule has teased<\/a> work on a separate Kylo Ren-focused story that might be released in 2026.)<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

New Comic Miniseries Coming In 2026<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

On March 11, the new miniseries The High Republic Adventures: Pathfinders will put out its first issue. Also in March, a five-issue run titled Shadow of Maul will release its first chapter; the story promises to tie in with the animated series also coming out this year. March will also see the release of the first chapter in the manga adaptation of\u00a0Jedi: Fallen Order. In July, the first volume of the Star Wars Visions: Tsukomo manga will be released.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

There is also a one-shot comic focused on Jar Jar and a graphic novel starring General Grievous coming out in February and March, respectively.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Coming to the Galaxy\u2019s Edge In 2026<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tied to the release of\u00a0The Mandalorian and Grogu in May, the Smuggler\u2019s Run ride at Galaxy\u2019s Edge in Disneyland will get an upgrade. In it, the guest playing the role of the engineer of the four-person crew will get to choose one of four different planets to send the Falcon to, namely Tatooine, Bespin, Endor, and Coruscant, each of which will feature completely different paths and missions. The engineer will also engage with Grogu during the mission.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

The story of the mission starts after Hondo catches wind<\/a> \u201cof a deal on Tatooine between ex-Imperial officers and pirates, setting the stage for a high-stakes chase across the galaxy. Guests will team up with Mando and Grogu to track them down and claim a bounty in a dynamic, galaxy-spanning adventure.\u201d Jon Favreau has also clarified that this will allow guests to participate in something that is happening off-camera from what you see in\u00a0The Mandalorian and Grogu, so that it won\u2019t be retelling that story, but it will tie into it.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Other Star Wars Events: The Lucas Museum Opening<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

It was in 2018 that construction started on the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, but doors will finally open to the public in September 2026. Over the past couple of years, there\u2019s been a lot of movement in the upper ranks of management, with the previous director stepping down on April 1, 2025, and George Lucas reportedly gaining a lot more control over the works. After a lot of time and money invested, as well as a few delays caused by, among other things, the pandemic and supply-chain issues, the venue will finally celebrate its opening in 2026. George Lucas himself went to San Diego Comic-Con this year to promote it.<\/p>\n
