{"id":349342,"date":"2026-01-03T04:27:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T04:27:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/349342\/"},"modified":"2026-01-03T04:27:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T04:27:08","slug":"the-smashing-pumpkins-and-yungblud-team-up-for-epic-new","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/349342\/","title":{"rendered":"The Smashing Pumpkins and YUNGBLUD team up for epic new\u2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerrang.com\/artists\/the-smashing-pumpkins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Smashing Pumpkins<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerrang.com\/artists\/yungblud\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">YUNGBLUD<\/a> have joined forces for a brand-new version of Zombie.<\/p>\n<p>Taken from last year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerrang.com\/album-review-yungblud-idols\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Idols<\/a> album, and up for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerrang.com\/grammy-2026-nominations-best-rock-metal-album-performance-linkin-park-turnstile-hayley-williams-ghost-yungblud-sleep-token-spiritbox\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Best Rock Song at the GRAMMYs<\/a> on February 1, YUNGBLUD\u2019s powerful anthem about his \u201cgrandmother going through serious injury and trauma\u201d now features a huge guest spot from The Smashing Pumpkins.<\/p>\n<p>YUNGBLUD first hung out with Pumpkins icon Billy Corgan last summer at the incredible <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kerrang.com\/live-review-back-to-the-beginning-villa-park-black-sabbath-ozzy-osbourne-tom-morello\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Back To The Beginning<\/a> show at Villa Park, and went on to invite the band to collaborate on Zombie \u2013 a song that Billy \u2018indirectly inspired\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSiamese<br \/>\nDream was an album that was there for me more than I could ever explain when I<br \/>\nwas growing up, so to be making music with the band that created it is really quite<br \/>\nhard to comprehend,\u201d he shares. \u201cBilly has always been such a massive<br \/>\ninspiration to me but more recently a huge mentor of mine. His outlook on the<br \/>\nimportance of truth in art is something that I\u2019ve always held close to my<br \/>\nheart.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZombie is<br \/>\nthe most important song of Idols to me. It\u2019s deeply personal and it was heavily<br \/>\ninfluenced by The Smashing Pumpkins\u2019 ability to mix emotion, cinema and heavy<br \/>\nguitars. I sent Billy an email, asking if he would re-imagine this song with me<br \/>\nand when he agreed to it, it was a dream come true. To watch one of my idols<br \/>\nwork on something that I had written was one of the greatest honours of my<br \/>\nlife. I love that this new version of Zombie is heavier, it has Billy Corgan\u2019s<br \/>\niconic guitar sound, it has more urgency and it rips my heart out. I\u2019m so proud<br \/>\nof it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Billy enthuses that, \u201cYUNGBLUD\u2019s star shines bright, so it\u2019s been great fun to lend our zig-zag voice to his Zombie which he\u2019s said was inspired by one of our own.
