Coronation Street’s Daniel Brocklebank has “nothing but love” as he shared what he will miss about life on the cobbles. The actor is best known for his role as Billy Mayhew on the ITV<\/a> soap since he first appeared in Weatherfield in 2014. After 11 years, Daniel has said an emotional goodbye and has spoken to the ECHO about the next chapter of his life.<\/p>\n

Although his exit storyline<\/a> is being kept under wraps, Daniel is more than happy to reflect on his fond memories of being on the show and has shared what he will miss the most.<\/p>\n

The 46-year-old actor first appeared on-screen as Billy, who was the new partner of Sean Tully, before dating Todd Grimshaw and then Paul Foreman.<\/a> The Weatherfield vicar soon became a fan-favourite and has been at the heart of some of the show’s major storylines<\/a><\/p>\n

In 2024, Billy’s onscreen husband Paul Foreman (Peter Ash<\/a>) died in heartbreaking scenes after a battle with motor neurone disease (MND). Recent storylines have explored how Billy has struggled to deal with the impact of his partner’s death.<\/a><\/p>\n

Daniel and Peter took home the award for Best Partnership at the Inside Soap Awards in 2024. They also received the award for Best Storyline at the Radio Times Soap Awards, for their portrayal of Paul’s struggle with motor neurone disease.<\/a><\/p>\n

However, the soap star has now finished filming his final scenes<\/a>. But things aren’t slowing down for the star as he has taken on the lead role in a production<\/a> of Young Frankenstein The Musical at the Liverpool Playhouse Theatre<\/p>\n

While he is enjoying digging his tap shoes back out for the production in Liverpool, Daniel has shared what he’ll miss most about the cobbles.<\/p>\n

In an interview with the ECHO<\/a>, Dan said he’ll miss the friends he has made along the way, but he still plans to keep in touch with his former co-stars.<\/p>\n

He said: “I’ll miss the people. Having said that, the people that I am most close to, we speak all the time, we see each other all the time. I have no intention of leaving where I live in Manchester.”<\/p>\n

“The girl that plays my daughter, she only lives 10 minutes away from me so we’ll get to see each other all the time. We’ll just have to make more of an effort to see each other because rather than just having being able to bump into each other at work we’ll now have to arrange a coffee or a lunch.”<\/p>\n

Like most actors do, Daniel scooped up a few of Billy’s favourite items <\/a>to remember his time in Weatherfield<\/a>. He said: “Billy had a really lovely leather chair in his living room. That’s now in my bedroom upstairs.”<\/p>\n

He continued: “I’ve got three sausage dogs and Billy had two pieces of artwork on his wall. One was the front end of a sausage dog, and one end was the back end of a sausage dog, but it’s like two pictures. So I have that.<\/p>\n

“I also have a couple of the wedding photos from Billy and Paul’s wedding. And then just little things like photographs, a sash that Billy and Paul wore at their stag do. We also took some Polaroids at the wedding, which were part of the storyline, but I’ve got a few of those Polaroids.”<\/p>\n

Despite taking home some physical items to remember his time on the street, Dan will also cherish memories <\/a>which he will look back on with “nothing but absolute love”.<\/p>\n

He told the ECHO: “I’ve got 11 years worth of memories as well. Eleven years is a long time to be working in one place. I’ve been an actor now for 32 years, and 11 of them were spent there. It does become like a big family.<\/p>\n

“During that 11 year period, you may have helped each other through all sorts of things, marriages, births, deaths, and you’ve supported each other through those sorts of events in life, which inevitably bring you closer to each other. So the relationships on a job like Corrie are far deeper cemented, purely and simply because of time.”<\/p>\n

He continued: “I’ve had so many great storylines over the years. Billy certainly wasn’t short of drama including fun things to do, some tragic things to do and some silly things to do. I mean, he should never have touched that heroin”, he laughed.<\/p>\n
