Black Sabbath<\/a>\u00a0guitarist\u00a0Tony Iommi<\/a>\u00a0has said he\u00a0will \u201cdefinitely\u201d release a new solo album later in\u00a02026.<\/p>\n

The rock legend uploaded a video to his official YouTube channel on New Year\u2019s Eve, something he traditionally does every year, and\u00a0in it, he revealed that\u00a0as part of his plans for\u00a0the year ahead, he intends to release the follow-up to his last solo record, 2005\u2019s \u2018Fused\u2019.<\/p>\n

He began by listing\u00a0off some of\u00a0his highlights of 2025, including\u00a0working alongside Robbie Williams\u00a0on \u2018Rocket\u2019, the lead single on Williams\u2019 new album \u2018BRITPOP\u2019<\/a>, and\u00a0receiving the Freedom of Birmingham award alongside his Sabbath bandmates<\/a>, which he described as \u201cabsolutely amazing\u201d.<\/p>\n

He also reflected on\u00a0the historic final Sabbath show \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019<\/a>. \u201cThe amount of bands that turned up to support Sabbath at that was just fantastic,\u201d he said. \u201cWhat a great event. And, of course, it raised a lot of money for charity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Iommi went on to acknowledge\u00a0the\u00a0untimely death\u00a0of his friend and bandmate Ozzy Osbourne just weeks after the show<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0just unfortunate and sad that Ozzy passed away a couple of weeks after that,\u201d he said. \u201cMay he rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then turned his attention to his plans for 2026. \u201cThere\u2019s a Gibson documentary coming out very, very soon,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd then, of course, in 2026, I shall have, definitely, definitely, my solo album out.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to that,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m\u00a0enjoying doing\u00a0it.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0been great fun, and I really, really hope you enjoy it, but\u00a0I\u2019ll\u00a0keep you more up to date as we go on with\u00a0what\u2019s\u00a0happening with that, and when\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0going to be released.\u201d<\/p>\n

Iommi referenced the album in his New Year\u2019s message in 2023<\/a>, saying at the time that he had built a new studio that was \u201calmost ready to go\u201d,\u00a0and that he intended to write a record there\u00a0in the course of\u00a0that year.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Iommi\u00a0gave a surprise performance at the press night for the Birmingham Royal Ballet\u2019s performance of\u00a0Black Sabbath \u2013 The Ballet\u00a0in London in October.<\/a>\u00a0He treated the live audience to the guitar solo from \u2018Paranoid\u2019,\u00a0with May also in attendance at the show.<\/p>\n
