TRIBUTES have been paid to a Scots singer who died on Hogmanay after he went out hillwalking.<\/p>\n

Dad-of-two Andrew Ure, who turned 41 on December 30, is understood to have gone out to try new gear he got for his birthday<\/a> \u2013 but never made it home.<\/p>\n

His partner Linsey Waddell paid tribute<\/p>\n

Andrew was the lead singer of Falkirk band The Ray Summers, who supported Paolo Nutini<\/a> and Doves.<\/p>\n

His brother David said: \u201cOn Hogmanay Andy was buzzing about what 2026 had in store for us \u2013 but firstly about getting out for a hill walk in all his new birthday gear.<\/p>\n

\u201cSadly he didn\u2019t make it home. Massive thanks to the Arrochar Mountain Rescue Team who the family are truly indebted to.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo many people have lost a part of their world as he meant so much to many.<\/p>\n

The band paid tribute on Facebook<\/a>, writing: \u201cAndy was not only the rock in our band, he was the rock in our lives.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis hurts so so much.<\/p>\n

Andrew was known for bringing the Vibration music festival to his hometown and more recently the Falkirk Fest music festival.<\/p>\n

He was also a director of the Wee Whisky Shop in Linlithgow, West Lothian.<\/p>\n

On Saturday a post on the shop\u2019s Facebook page paid tribute to Mr Ure.<\/p>\n

It said: \u201cIt is with profound sadness that we share the news that one of our directors, Andrew Ure, passed away on 31st December, 2025.<\/p>\n

\u201cWords cannot fully express the pain of this loss and our thoughts are with Andrew\u2019s family at this incredibly difficult time.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to everyone who has already reached out with their kind messages and condolences.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Ure\u2019s partner Linsey Waddell posted a picture of herself with Andrew on Facebook on Saturday along with a tribute to him. <\/p>\n

She said: \u201cOn your birthday you wanted to look at the stars with me. Little did I know the next day you would be one of those stars.
