For the last fifteen years or so, I\u2019ve proudly been a voting member of the Critics Choice Association, and this evening marked our annual awards ceremony celebrating the best in film and television.<\/p>\n

As widely expected,\u00a0One Battle After Another<\/a>\u00a0continued its march toward what now feels like inevitable Oscar glory. The film took several of the night\u2019s top prizes, including\u00a0Best Picture\u00a0and\u00a0Best Director\u00a0for Paul Thomas Anderson. However, Leonardo DiCaprio was upset in the\u00a0Best Actor\u00a0category, losing to Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet for\u00a0Marty Supreme.<\/p>\n

Because the Critic;s Choice voting body is made up entirely of entertainment journalists, the winners often skew more adventurous than your typical awards show. This year\u2019s surprises included\u00a0Jacob Elordi\u00a0winning for Guillermo del Toro\u2019s\u00a0Frankenstein\u00a0and\u00a0Amy Madigan\u00a0taking Best Supporting Actress for her scene-stealing turn in\u00a0Weapons.<\/p>\n

On the animated side, Netflix\u2019s juggernaut\u00a0KPop Demon Hunters<\/a>\u00a0claimed Best Animated Feature, while the television categories largely mirrored the Emmys.\u00a0The Pitt\u00a0dominated the drama races,\u00a0The Studio\u00a0swept the comedy categories, and\u00a0Adolescence\u00a0ruled the limited series awards.<\/p>\n
