It\u2019s all change at the helm of The Eclectic Art Gallery in Margate\u2019s Old Town as boss Sarah Gibbon passes the torch to Job Muscroft.<\/p>\n
The gallery was initially opened in 2016 by an arts collective and taken over by Sarah and former business partner Vivienne Rose \u2013 working as Shoreline- in 2019.<\/p>\n
Sarah\u00a0said: \u201cRunning Eclectic has been an\u00a0absolute privilege. From converting it from a long-established small collective\u00a0to a social enterprise business model\u00a0with my now-retired business partner Vivienne Rose, and\u00a0the challenge of\u00a0opening just before a global pandemic, through to growing it to become an accessible\u00a0and inclusive\u00a0space that has welcomed over 125 local artists to exhibit and sell their work affordably.<\/p>\n
\u201c I\u2019ve laughed, learned, and made life-long friends here. Job is already a well-established creative member of the group who has great marketing skills too, and I can\u2019t wait to see the gallery continue to grow in new and exciting ways under his direction.\u201d<\/p>\n
Job Muscroft is ready to jump in with fresh ideas and plenty of enthusiasm.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be leading this wonderful gallery, continuing its legacy of connecting art lovers with art creators here in Margate Old Town and online, and I\u2019m honoured to help write its next chapter.<\/p>\n
\u201cExpect diversity\u00a0of choice\u00a0and plenty of opportunities to get involved. We are kicking off with a refurbishment and launching a new website,\u00a0which will mean closing our doors for a few weeks\u00a0in early February\u00a0but we will be back bigger and better than ever. Sarah\u00a0has\u00a0decided it\u2019s time to\u00a0 focus on her creative practice and to further develop her other gallery in Thanet \u2013 Westgate Galleria & Studio.\u00a0She\u00a0will continue\u00a0to actively\u00a0support arts-based independent small\u00a0businesses\u00a0with her team there.<\/p>\n
Current plans also include\u00a0taking\u00a0Margate Made on\u00a0tour\u00a0around Kent\u00a0and Sarah is\u00a0part of the group looking to establish a new community gallery in Ramsgate\u00a0later this year.
