Widnes Vikings are pleased to reveal our latest addition ahead of the 2026 season, as powerful forward Jack Houghton arrives at the DCBL Stadium from North Wales Crusaders.<\/p>\n
Houghton, 28, joins the Vikings on a one-year deal, having made 118 appearances for Crusaders between 2017 and 2025, crossing for 22 tries.<\/p>\n
A former Vikings academy product, the towering forward will get his first team chance in 2026.<\/p>\n
On signing for the club, Houghton said: \u201cI\u2019m made up to be a Widnes player. It feels like a full-circle moment for me coming back to the club. <\/p>\n
\u201cI pretty much grew up at Widnes, being in the scholarship and academy teams, so it\u2019s great to be back.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m hoping to bring competition for a shirt in what is already a great side, and I will be eager to take my chance when I get it.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also gained Championship experience in 2024, where he made 18 appearances for Swinton Lions before returning to the North Wales club for 2025.<\/p>\n
Head Coach Allan Coleman commented: \u201cIt\u2019s brilliant to bring Jack on board. He\u2019s come through our system and understands the club.<\/p>\n
