Additional elements of the State Pension, including deferred rates will increase by 3.8 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The Triple Lock ensures <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/dwp-new-payment-rates-april-36331579\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"State PensionsLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">State Pensions<\/a> increase each year in-line with whichever is the highest of average annual earnings growth from May to July (4.8%), CPI in the year to September (3.8%) or 2.5 per cent.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The uprating will see those on the full <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/new-state-pension-weekly-payments-36497080\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"New State PensionLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">New State Pension<\/a> receive \u00a3241.30 per week, while those on the maximum Basic State Pension would receive \u00a3184.90 per week.<\/p>\n<p>READ MORE: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/new-state-pension-weekly-payments-36497080\" data-tmdatatrack=\"read-more\" data-tmdatatrack-articleid=\"36497080\" data-tmdatatrack-source=\"editorial\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DWP confirms New and Basic State Pension weekly payment rates from April<\/a>READ MORE: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/dwp-cost-living-help-pensioners-36498188\" data-tmdatatrack=\"read-more\" data-tmdatatrack-articleid=\"36498188\" data-tmdatatrack-source=\"editorial\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DWP cost of living financial help for people over State Pension age<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">However, while millions of pensioners across Great Britain &#8211; including over one million living in Scotland &#8211; can look forward to the payment rise during the 026\/27 financial year, nearly half a million people over State Pension age will not be due the increase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">An estimated <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/lifestyle\/money\/new-calls-unfreeze-state-pension-36367133\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"453,000 pensionersLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">453,000 pensioners<\/a> are living in a country which does not have a reciprocal agreement with the UK Government resulting in them not receiving the annual State Pension uprating. This is despite having paid the necessary amount of National Insurance Contributions to receive the state Pension.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Despite fierce campaigning by the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.endfrozenpensions.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"\u2018End Frozen Pensions\u2019 campaignLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">\u2018End Frozen Pensions\u2019 campaign<\/a> &#8211; which includes an online petition signed by thousands of supporters, a visit to Parliament by 100-year-old Second World War veteran Anne Puckridge, and persistent pleas to the UK Government to review the policy &#8211; many expats are receiving a significantly smaller State Pension than those resident in Scotland, England, Wales or Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Campaigners had hoped the appointment of former Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, as Canadian prime minister last year, would open a dialogue with the UK Government about the issue which affects over 100,000 expats resident in Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">The State Pension is frozen at the point of emigration for people mostly living in Commonwealth countries such as Canada and Australia. Retirees living in the USA or EU countries are eligible for the same considerations related to their State Pension had they remained in the UK.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Many of the affected pensioners (49%) are receiving \u00a365 per week or less with an estimated 86 per cent of all expats not being told their State Pension would be frozen. Campaigners say that some pensioners are receiving as little as \u00a320.00 a week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">John Duguid, Chair of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.endfrozenpensions.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"End Frozen Pensions CampaignLink opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">End Frozen Pensions Campaign<\/a>, said: \u201cThe Chancellor (Rachel Reeves) found the words, and the money, to help protect pensioners from inflation at home, while offering nothing to the hundreds of thousands of British pensioners overseas whose incomes are being eroded year after year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cOnce again, we are left out of sight, out of mind and out of pocket. And the fact that most of the affected countries are members of the Commonwealth adds insult to injury. The Government appears content to grow a chasm between its pensioners residing at home and abroad.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">\u201cThis is a gross injustice, made all the more outrageous as the Government\u2019s own figures confirm that fixing this injustice would cost the Chancellor a mere \u00a363m in the first year, a drop in the ocean of the total pension spend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">You can find out more information about the End Frozen Pensions Campaign on their <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.endfrozenpensions.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"website.Link opens in a new tab.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" tabindex=\"0\">website.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>State Pension payments 2026\/27<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\">Someone on the full New State Pension currently receives \u00a3230.25 per week, or \u00a3921 every four-week pay period.
