Counseling psychologist and ADR practitioner, Counselor Perfect, has stated that any marriage without conflict is either dead or slowly headed towards it.<\/p>\n
She made the remarks on an episode of\u00a0Let\u2019s Talk\u00a0on Joy Prime during a discussion on conflict management between couples.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to her, a certain level of conflict is necessary to test partners, see how they handle issues, and strengthen their bond.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you are married and there\u2019s never been any conflict in your marriage, your marriage is dead. So conflict will come because you\u2019re human. It\u2019s how you solve the conflict when it comes that makes you stronger. It\u2019s not the conflict itself,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Counselor Perfect explained that conflict between partners can be beneficial, as it helps couples bond and develop a better understanding of each other while resolving issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n
She emphasised that listening to understand, controlling one\u2019s tone, and being non-judgmental are essential in marital conflict resolution.<\/p>\n
\u201cGive grace to them, and watch your tone of voice when addressing an issue. You put yourself aside because you want to understand them, and put negative emotions away so that you address the problem and it will not resurface again,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
Also on the panel, Counselor and Resident Pastor of Universal Gospel Center, Reverend Daniel Annan, supported her points.<\/p>\n
He noted that couples should not hesitate to seek help when needed, particularly in cases of abusive partners.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople should not be afraid to seek help. Don\u2019t feel inadequate in seeking help. Just seek help and help will come,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
