Farage says Trump’s plan for Greenland ‘outrageous’ but unlikelypublished at 11:46 GMT<\/p>\n

Nigel Farage, a long-time supporter of Donald Trump, has criticised his suggestion of using military force to take Greenland, saying it sounds “outrageous” – but adding he is sceptical that the idea would come to fruition. <\/p>\n

The US president’s repeated comments that the US “needed” Greenland for security reasons prompted Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen to warn that any attack by the US would spell the end of Nato.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference in London this morning, the Reform UK leader says it should be for the people of Greenland and Denmark to decide the territory’s future but “there are some genuine security concerns around Greenland”. <\/p>\n

He adds: “As ever with things that Trump says, they may sound outrageous – and in the case of potentially using force, they are – but there is a point behind it.” Farage goes on: “If he were to do this using military force, that probably would be the end of Nato, which is why he won’t do it, in my opinion.”<\/p>\n

It looks as if the Reform leader may not be in the Commons for PMQs, as he is due on Times Radio around the same time. <\/p>\n
