This Morning fans were quick to react when the man with the “world’s smallest penis” appeared on Wednesday’s edition of the ITV magazine show to discuss his rare medical condition<\/p>\n

This Morning<\/a> viewers were left baffled when the man with the “world’s smallest penis” arrived on the sofa during Wednesday’s episode of the ITV<\/a> show. Michael Phillips, 38, has an appendage that measures at just 0.38 inches, well below the average which measures up to 5.5 inches.<\/p>\n

The North Carolina native recently went to the doctor after years of issues caused by his micropenis, and told hosts Cat Deeley<\/a> and Ben Shephard<\/a> about the issues it has caused him throughout his life. He said: “I was probably in high school, and dealing with girlfriends and stuff like that, I thought I was a late bloomer, maybe one day it would be normal size. But it never happened.”<\/p>\n

When Ben asked if it was ever something he could discuss with his family, Michael, who also revealed that he was adopted, confirmed that, sadly, his issue was something he felt he could never raise.<\/p>\n

He added: “I kept it to myself, when I was in my teens and twenties, I was always single even though I had friends. They wondered why I wasn’t dating and I didn’t want to go through that.”<\/p>\n

Whilst it wasn’t really an issue in his adolescence because he refused to address the topic, Michael explained that it is something that has certainly had an impact on his personal life in adulthood and revealed some of the surprising challenges he faces every day. He said: “I kept it secret, I didn’t get picked on because nobody new.<\/p>\n

“I can’t go out and have a one night stand but it also affects my ability to use a restroom, my confidence. Even sitting down can be tricky with the clean up and everything. I’ve tried everything possible. You can be upfront, you can try to talk to somebody, sometimes you don’t say nothing at all.”<\/p>\n

This Morning<\/a> viewers were quick to take to social media as they reacted to the interview, with one noting: “Suppose it\u2019s easy to slag the bloke with the smallest penis. Must be horrible for him.” Another said: “Slow news day? #thismorning meet the man with the worlds smallest penis.”<\/p>\n

A third wrote: “Why would you go on #thismorning and tell everyone you have a micropenis?” whilst another also wondered: “Why would you make that public?” A fourth said: “When Ben asked the man with the micro penis how it affects his day to day life, he replied that he can’t go on one night stands ! Is that day to day life ? I must have had a very boring life if it is.”<\/p>\n

Another took umbrage with the way ITV had invited him onto their show on the first place, writing: “Why do you guys persist in exploiting people like this?” and another said: “Are they struggling for stories today?” Despite the personal toll, Michael was turned towards raising awareness partly by a moment of dark humour<\/a> that suddenly felt uncomfortably real.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt wasn\u2019t until joking about being a Guinness world<\/a> record holder that I realised I might actually have the world\u2019s smallest. If I could go for it, I would \u2013 I think it could help bring more awareness,” he told IGV<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But alongside the jokes, he’s taken to Instagram<\/a> to speak more openly about it.<\/p>\n

The response, he said, had been overwhelmingly kind. He\u2019s met \u201creally good people that just care about you and what you post,\u201d something that\u2019s helped him confront years of self-esteem struggles.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s taken aim at society\u2019s obsession with size, saying men are bombarded with unrealistic standards and almost no representation of those who don\u2019t fit them. \u201cThere really isn\u2019t very much representation for small sizes in media and almost zero mention of micro penis being portrayed as being a real medical condition and not a slang joke term,” he said.<\/p>\n
