\n Talks between the Canaries and the 32-time Austrian champions are ongoing to agree a compensation figure that will take Shulberg to Vienna with the former City boss as his assistant coach.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\n The 35-year-old heads up City’s academy alongside head of football development Dean Rastrick, who is expected to absorb Shulberg’s responsibilities should his move to join Thorup be finalised.\n<\/p>\n
\n Shulberg has been working inside Norwich’s academy since July 2017 after joining from Yeovil Town’s youth ranks. He started as football operations manager and future groups lead between the ages of under-nine to 16.\n<\/p>\n
\n He progressed through the ranks of City’s academy, eventually becoming City’s head of academy coaching in August 2022. A year later his role changed to academy manager. He has previously worked for Northampton Town and held coaching positions in Oklahoma prior to joining Norwich.\n<\/p>\n
\n Shulberg stepped up to Thorup’s City coaching team on an interim basis after the exit of Narcis Pelach following his appointment as Stoke boss in September 2024. He served for eight games before the appointment of Jack Wilshere, who joined the Dane and assistant Glen Riddersholm.\n<\/p>\n
\n After Thorup’s sacking in April, Shulberg stepped up again to assist Wilshere during his interim spell before returning to the academy upon the arrival of Liam Manning.\n<\/p>\n
\n Thorup is assembling a coaching team following his appointment as Rapid Wien boss, his first since leaving Carrow Road eight months ago.\n<\/p>\n
\n Former Canaries analyst Alan Arac, who followed Thorup from Nordsj\u00e6lland, has joined him again at the Allianz Stadion. Riddersholm, who assisted him at Carrow Road, hasn’t made the move to Austria.\n<\/p>\n
\n Serbian Luka Pavlovic has remained at the club and will assist Thorup, with Shulberg expected to complete his backroom team. The Dane confirmed at his first press conference that they were finalising a move for another coach.\n<\/p>\n
\n \u201cAlan (Arac) was my chief analyst at Norwich, where I took him with me after we had worked together at FC Nordsj\u00e6lland,” he said. “He travelled with me to Norwich, but, unfortunately, because of a contract situation he joined in the November where I would have hoped for him to start in the beginning of the season with me, but that was not possible.\n<\/p>\n
\n “He will always be a coach that will travel with me.
