{"id":358371,"date":"2026-01-08T05:19:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T05:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/358371\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T05:19:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T05:19:07","slug":"teofimo-lopez-already-lines-up-who-he-wants-to-face-after-shakur-stevenson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/358371\/","title":{"rendered":"Teofimo Lopez already lines up who he wants to face after Shakur Stevenson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/boxer\/teofimo-lopez\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Teofimo Lopez<\/a> has already plotted his next fight, a shot at three-division world championship status, beyond his upcoming showdown with Shakur Stevenson.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.co.uk\/boxing\/story\/_\/id\/47166562\/teofimo-lopez-shakur-stevenson-set-140-pound-showdown-jan-31\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">The 28-year-old will defend his WBO super-lightweight title against Stevenson on January 31, headlining a blockbuster Ring Magazine card at Madison Square Garden, New York.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/boxingnewsonline.net\/news\/teofimo-lopez-beats-arnold-barboza-jr-by-unanimous-decision-in-new-york\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">In his last outing, against then-mandatory challenger Arnold Barboza Jr, Lopez produced his best performance since dethroning Josh Taylor around two years earlier.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Back then, \u2018The Takeover\u2019 claimed his world title at 140lbs with a clear unanimous decision victory, before making two unspectacular defences against Jamaine Ortiz and Steve Claggett.<\/p>\n<p>But despite his lack of consistency over the years, along with a shock defeat to George Kambosos Jr in 2021, Lopez always brings out his A game for the big occasions.<\/p>\n<p>That much became apparent following his monumental points victory over Vasyl Lomachenko back in 2020, when Lopez cemented himself as the leading champion at 135lbs.<\/p>\n<p>So now, one can only imagine that the Brooklyn man is approaching his fight with Stevenson, a three-weight world champion who holds the WBC lightweight title, with the same level of tenacity.<\/p>\n<p>But while many feel that Stevenson could have his number, Lopez has already named Devin Haney as a potential opponent for when, in his mind, he takes care of business later this month.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/UqMOzxyEurI?si=mr6iSBO6nBbIWX8h\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FightHype<\/a> around three weeks ago, Lopez insisted that the American is firmly on his radar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll the roads lead to a bigger fight between me and Haney.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt makes sense now, right? It has momentum, right?
