\u201dIt\u2019s disgusting,\u201d Starmer says during an interview with Greatest Hits Radio<\/a>. \u201cX need[s] to get their act together and get this material down. And we will take action on this because it\u2019s simply not tolerable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last month, X launched a feature<\/a> that allows people to use Grok to edit any image on the platform without permission. The rollout resulted in a flood of AI deepfakes undressing women<\/a> and, in some instances, children. \u201cWe\u2019re not going to tolerate it,\u201d Starmer adds. \u201cI\u2019ve asked for all options to be on the table.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UK\u2019s communications regulator, Ofcom, began investigating whether X is in violation of the country\u2019s Online Safety Act<\/a>, which holds online platforms accountable for hosting harmful content, Politico reported<\/a> last week. \u201cBased on their response we will undertake a swift assessment to determine whether there are potential compliance issues that warrant investigation,\u201d An Ofcom spokesperson told Politico at the time.<\/p>\n

X has said<\/a> that \u201canyone using or prompting Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content.\u201d X didn\u2019t immediately respond to The Verge\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n
