THIS is the moment a tiny deer took on an enormous rhinoceros, in a David and Goliath battle for the ages. <\/p>\n

In wild video footage, the little, brave muntjac deer dared to challenge the 1.7-ton rhino \u2013 named Maru\u015bka \u2013 with no hesitation. <\/p>\n

The unlikely sparring partners clashed in the snow<\/a> at Wroc\u0142aw Zoo in Poland<\/a>. <\/p>\n

At the beginning of the clash, Maru\u015bka nodded her head up and down twice, in a move that would daunt even the bravest of hearts.<\/p>\n

Despite punching well above his weight<\/a>, the pint-sized male deer took the challenge and charged without hesitation. <\/p>\n

Catapulting himself front-on, the deer and Maru\u015bka knocked heads before backing up from each other. <\/p>\n

Preparing for the second round, the deer observed the rhino<\/a>, while Maru\u015bka jumped excitedly between her front legs. <\/p>\n

The pair lightly bump heads again before edging away from each other. <\/p>\n

In their third round, the video shows Maru\u015bka faking out of a colossal head-bang,<\/a> making it seem as though the two are playfighting. <\/p>\n

Throughout the entire encounter, the deer does not shy away from the confrontation once. <\/p>\n

Keeping its head low, it challenges Maru\u015bka at every turn,<\/a> eventually coming out victorious. <\/p>\n

The triumphant little creature pranced away<\/a> in the shared enclosure before the video cut out. <\/p>\n

The footage was posted to social media<\/a> by zoo staff, with the caption \u201cSomeone forgot to look in the mirror this morning!\u201d<\/p>\n

The staff member said Maru\u015bka had \u201cthe patience of a saint\u201d before explaining the tiny deer\u2019s audacious behaviour. <\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHis partner is in heat, and the bachelor is pumping with testosterone,\u201d they said of the little animal. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe needs to release his energy<\/a> and show who\u2019s boss \u2014 even if his sparring partner weighs 1.7 tons.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWho would have thought that such a warrior could be hidden in that tiny body?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The species is a small, reddish-brown deer native to southeastern China<\/a> and Taiwan. <\/p>\n

They are often referred to as the \u201cbarking deer\u201d due to distinctive dog-like vocalisations. <\/p>\n

The deer are highly adaptable and live in habitats ranging from snowy temperate forests to subtropical jungles. <\/p>\n

The tiny animals often coexist with rhinos, according to hoofed animal keeper Maciej Okupnik. <\/p>\n

\u201cBoth in our facility and in the wild, Reeves\u2019s muntjacs and rhinos live side-by-side and interact constantly,\u201d\u00a0Okupnik said. <\/p>\n

Okupnik told Polish media that the two species typically stay away from each other, as they have differing methods of marking their territory. <\/p>\n

\u201cMuntjacs are fiercely territorial; they mark their territory using scent glands located around their eyes,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n

\u201cRhinos, on the other hand, are generally tolerant of other animals on their turf \u2013 after all, they aren\u2019t afraid of anyone except tigers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the most part, they just mind their own business,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The clash captured hearts online, with people flooding the comments on social media platform X. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Rhino just wants to have fun,\u201d one person said. <\/p>\n

Another quipped: \u201cArguing with the Mrs\u201d. <\/p>\n
