In the twistiest (and most dramatic!) series of The Traitors<\/a> yet, we\u2019ve had a Secret Traitor<\/a>, covert relationships<\/a>, and Traitor infighting – and yet Traitor Rachel won\u2019t let anything stand in the way of her master game plan. Even her new nemesis slash fellow Traitor Fiona – who admitted last night that Rachel\u2019s tactics were \u201cmessing with my head\u201d. Frankly, us too!<\/p>\n

But keeping your fellow players on the back foot is the key to being a successful Traitor \u2013 and Rachel knows it. That\u2019s why she\u2019s playing both a calculated \u2013 and unpredictable \u2013 game never seen before in the BBC series\u2019 history. From choosing her friends wisely to using stunt tactics, we’ve worked ouT Rachel\u2019s game plan and here’s why it works. <\/p>\n

She\u2019s building alliances\"tx<\/p>\n

Rachel is spending more time and effort buddying up to the Faithfuls than her fellow traitors. As she said herself, devout Faithful Amanda was her \u201cfavourite person\u201d in the castle and she even shed real tears when she was banished. Fiona has also clocked Rachel\u2019s strong Faithful alliances, describing her as \u201cvery popular\u201d. So far, this strategy has worked like a treat – never once has Rachel been nominated for banishment, nor has she aroused any suspicion.<\/p>\n

Poor Ross didn\u2019t stand a chance when Rachel turned on him during the roundtable. While a lot of the Faithful pointed the finger at him because of his past with Netty, Rachel went one step further and used a stunt tactic to try and trip him up. \u201cWas Hugo that dramatic in the turret?\u201d she asked him, after Hugo was outed as a traitor. Genuinely baffled, Ross struggled for a convincing response \u2013 despite being completely innocent- and his fate was sealed.<\/p>\n

She’s the “real” detective \"tx<\/p>\n

Amanda may have worked for the Met Police, but Rachel is the only real detective in the castle. Not only did she manage to illicit, unprompted, a confession from Amanda, who told Rachel, and Rachel only, about her policing past, but she also then used that information to her advantage. Rachel\u2019s next move was to share Amanda\u2019s secret with the rest of the players in order to throw heat on Amanda\u2019s prime traitor suspects, Jade and Sam. This proves she\u2019s adept at putting Faithfuls in the firing line, which will allow her to sail undetected to the final.<\/p>\n

And we mean this quite literally! Rachel barely broke a sweat when the Traitors were tasked with shortlisting nine players for murder by placing red ink on their picture on the family tree in plain sight. Instead, she immediately got to work, asking Stephen to use his \u201clanguage skills\u201d to translate the Latin on the family tree picture as an \u201cexcuse\u201d to stand around the picture. Absolutely no-one batted an eyelid. Who knows what she\u2019s capable of next?<\/p>\n

She\u2019s willing to make sacrifices \"tx<\/p>\n

If Rachel needs to throw another Traitor under the bus, then she absolutely will. She\u2019s openly admitted that she can\u2019t \u201ccome right out and defend\u201d Stephen, who\u2019s been subject to numerous Traitor accusations. And when Hugo was banished? Rachel said she was \u201cabsolutely delighted\u201d as he was the weak link. Plus, when Fiona privately confronted Rachel about sharing Amanda\u2019s secret, the first thing Rachel did was to tell the other players that Fiona thought she was \u201clying\u201d. This draws attention to Fiona and makes her look like an unpredictable livewire \u2013 or, in other words, a Traitor. If Fiona is discovered as a Traitor, this only strengthens Rachel\u2019s standing as a Faithful.<\/p>\n
