Britney Spears spoke candidly about performing in a new Instagram post<\/p>\n

Spears said she thought her dancing on social media could be “embarrassing sometimes,” but that it helps “heal” her<\/p>\n

She shared hopes to perform with one of her sons outside of the U.S. soon<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Jan. 8, the pop star, 44, shared a throwback photo on Instagram<\/a> from her performance of “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman”<\/a> at the 29th Annual American Music Awards on Jan. 9, 2002, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. She revealed her mindset towards returning to the stage in the caption of the post.<\/p>\n

\u201cInterestingly enough, I dance on IG to heal things in my body that people have no idea about,\u201d Spears wrote. \u201cYup and it\u2019s embarrassing sometimes\u2026 but I walked through the fire to save my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cGimme More\u201d singer added that she has no plans to return to the stage unless she\u2019s out of the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will never perform in the U.S. again because of extremely sensitive reasons, but I hope to be sitting on a stool with a red rose in my hair, in a bun, performing with my son\u2026 in the UK and AUSTRALIA very soon,\u201d she wrote. \u201cHe\u2019s a huge star and I\u2019m so humbled to be in his presence!!! God speed, little man!!!\u201d<\/p>\n

Spears didn\u2019t clarify which of her sons \u2014 Sean Preston<\/a>, 20, or Jayden, 19 \u2014 she was referring to, but in the same post, she said she plans to send him a white piano she used during a performance at the 2002 American Music Awards.<\/p>\n

The singer has previously raved about Jayden’s musical ability<\/a>, saying, “He\u2019s a genius and I\u2019m in awe of him !!! I can\u2019t believe he\u2019s mine !!! I was honestly scared that\u2019s not normal !!!”<\/p>\n

The mother of two also shared a selfie on Instagram that she previously took with her younger son, Jayden, captioning it with a painted nail emoji and a unicorn emoji.<\/p>\n

“Britney had a fun time celebrating Christmas with Jayden \u2014 it’s been such a special holiday,” a source exclusively told PEOPLE<\/a> last month.<\/p>\n

Sean Preston spent the holiday with his aunt<\/a> and Britney\u2019s younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears<\/a>, and mom, Lynne Spears, an Instagram post revealed.<\/p>\n

Britney shares Preston and Jayden with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline. After the release of Federline\u2019s 2025 memoir, You Thought You Knew, the former dancer shared on Talk Shop Live in November, “We haven’t talked specifically, but I know that she’s talked to our sons, which is good.\u201d<\/p>\n

“They absolutely love their mom, right? I mean, they always, always have, always will,\u201d he added. “It’s instilled in them. And I’ve always wanted for them to have a connection with their mom, the way I have with my mom.”<\/p>\n
