Alan Dean Foster is a name that is known throughout the Alien fandom. Responsible for the novelizations of Alien, Aliens & Alien 3, he declined to return to adapt Alien: Resurrection after the negative experience he had working on Alien 3. Eventually, though, 20th Century Fox and Titan Books persuaded Alan to return to the Alien franchise in when he adapted Alien: Covenant, and penned an origin prequel to the film, Alien: Covenant \u2013 Origins.<\/p>\n
However, when Alan Dean Foster\u2019s first original Alien novel was first discovered, it was initially reported as being a sequel to Alien: Covenant<\/a>. When Alien vs. Predator Galaxy had the opportunity to speak to Mr Foster back in 2017<\/a>, he explained to us that:<\/p>\n \u201cIt was a little nebulous at the beginning as to whether it would be a prequel novel or a sequel novel. Very early on in the decision-making process it was decided it couldn\u2019t possibly be a sequel because if the material in the book was going to become canon in any way then that would constrict the filmmakers on certain things they might want to do in the third film. And neither Titan or Fox wanted that situation to eventuate so it became a prequel novel instead of a sequel.\u201d<\/p>\n But he was unable to delve into any specific details about what this sequel novel would have involved. We now fast-forward another 6 years, and the legendary Alan Dean Foster recently sat down with YouTube channel Game Invention<\/a> to discuss his expansive career and spent the first part of the interview talking about Alan\u2019s history with the Alien franchise, during which he has now revealed some details about his Alien: Covenant sequel novel that never came to be.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was going to be a sequel, it was going to pick up where Michael [David]\u2026they end up on a world where the Engineers have been experimenting. And what you have is a whole world of animals brought from Earth who had been experimented upon. So you have the Alien-esque version of every terrestrial animal you can think of. Cows, dogs, birds. It\u2019s a horror planet, basically. I thought from an art standpoint that would have been fantastic to see. The things you could have done with the genetic manipulation. Basically it\u2019s a place you never want to go. And they have some action there and they get off, so that would have been the sequel.
