GiveMeSport Newsletter<\/a>, football journalist Ben Jacobs offered his thoughts on the current West Ham managerial situation.<\/p>\n\u201cWhat I can tell you is co-owner David Sullivan has already been succession planning in case a mid-season change is necessary,\u201c Jacobs revealed.<\/p>\n
\u201cLike Manchester United, West Ham could also go down a caretaker route.<\/p>\n

\u201cSlaven Bilic would be open to a short-term return to the club, while Michael Carrick (a Manchester United caretaker target along with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer) has also been considered.\u201c<\/p>\n
Bilic would bring back a much-needed feel-good factor and he wouldn\u2019t be a bad short-term appointment whatsoever.<\/p>\n
The same can probably be said for Carrick, although his lack of experience in relegation battles would be a big concern.<\/p>\n
Moving forward though, West Ham need to get the next managerial appointment right. Neither Bilic nor Carrick are viable long-term options for the Hammers.<\/p>\n
One thing that is keeping Nuno in a job at West Ham right now<\/p>\n
The Hammers boss is clearly treading on very thin ice at the moment.<\/p>\n
Jacobs explained one reason why he\u2019s still holding onto his job at West Ham.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cNuno Espirito Santo is under growing pressure. One factor keeping him in a job up until now is he\u2019s played a key role in the market and West Ham really hope some fresh faces can quickly turn their form around. <\/p>\n
\u201cThey need results pretty urgently now after losing to Nottingham Forest and falling seven adrift of safety and with a worse goal difference than Forest.<\/p>\n
\u201cTaty Castellanos and Pablo are two attackers Nuno had been pushing for, and the desire to part ways with Callum Wilson is also down to the West Ham boss. <\/p>\n
\u201cSeveral well-placed West Ham insiders claim the club\u2019s board is split on whether to stick or twist on Nuno.\u201c<\/p>\n
With games against Tottenham, Sunderland and Chelsea to come, Nuno\u2019s West Ham future will become much clearer at the end of the month.<\/p>\n
However, if he is moved on, Bilic or Carrick would be decent short-term options to replace him before the real work begins in the summer.<\/p>\n
