Enzo Maresca\u2019s interest in replacing Pep Guardiola at Man City may have led to his sacking at Chelsea.<\/p>\n
That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to\u00a0Football Insider, who has criticised BlueCo\u2019s ownership of Chelsea<\/a>.<\/p>\n Chelsea sacked Maresca after 18 months in charge<\/a>, with tension building between the manager and the club\u2019s hierarchy.<\/p>\n Maresca is on Man City\u2019s shortlist to replace Guardiola<\/a> when the Spaniard leaves the club in the future.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n BlueCo \u2018don\u2019t understand the football system\u2019<\/p>\n Everton\u2019s former chief\u00a0Keith Wyness<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs \u2013 believes there was a \u201cfalling out\u201d between Maresca and Chelsea.<\/p>\n Speaking on the new edition of\u00a0Football Insider\u2018s Inside Track podcast<\/a>, Wyness thinks BlueCo don\u2019t understand how to run a football club.<\/p>\n He told\u00a0Football Insider\u2018s Inside Track podcast: \u201cI think there\u00a0were discussions with Man City. I\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0think BlueCo\u00a0liked that at all. <\/p>\n MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES<\/p>\n \u201cAnd\u00a0I think there\u00a0was a falling out, certainly in the way that they used to march into the dressing room after games and ask for reports straight away. Again,\u00a0this\u00a0smacks of people, a bit like [Jim] Ratcliffe, who don\u2019t seem to understand exactly the football system.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThey\u2019ve\u00a0got the money, of course, they have the right to do it, but it\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0mean to say, just because you\u2019ve got the right to do it,\u00a0doesn\u2019t\u00a0mean that\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0the right thing to do.
