A top NHS<\/a> doctor has been accused of carrying out sex attacks on two women at a London<\/a> hospital.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yew Meng Aw-Yong, who was the medical director for the Metropolitan Police<\/a>\u00a0Service, appeared at court today charged with two counts of sexual assault.<\/p>\n

The 59-year-old is accused of assaulting the women at\u00a0Hillingdon Hospital, west London, between January 2013 and September 2015.<\/p>\n

The doctor, who is a specialist in emergency medicine and a former leading expert on forensic healthcare, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today where he denied the charges.<\/p>\n

Mr Aw-Yong, of Fulham, south west London, was released on conditional bail ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at Isleworth Crown Court on February 3.<\/p>\n

He has been suspended from his role with the Met.<\/p>\n

If found guilty Mr Aw-Yong could face up to six months in prison and an unlimited fine for each offence.<\/p>\n

In his career, the doctor has worked\u00a0as a medical advisor for St John\u2019s Ambulance, and was president of the British Academy of Forensic Science.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The two alleged offences were said to have been carried out at Hillingdon Hospital in west London<\/p>\n

He has also sat on the council of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine.<\/p>\n

Mr Aw-Yong has been a lecturer at Queen Mary University of London too, as well as\u00a0sat on a Ministry of Justice panel on deaths in custody and acted as a special advisor to the Care Quality Commission.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The doctor, who has advised the National Police Chiefs Council and the College of Policing, has also sat as a medical judge on the Ministry of Justice\u2019s First Tier Tribunal Judicial Allocations Committee.<\/p>\n
