Tom Amone has been relishing his first pre-season at Hull KR, describing it as one of the toughest he has experienced as preparations continue in Tenerife.<\/p>\n

The reigning Super League champions travelled overseas on Friday for a nine-day warm-weather camp<\/a>, taking advantage of the first-class facilities in Spain\u2019s Canary Islands that have been utilised by several Super League clubs.<\/p>\n

Former Dream Team prop Amone, 29, arrived during the off-season after agreeing a new three-year deal at Sewell Group Craven Park.<\/p>\n

\u201cPre-season has been tough, probably one of the hardest I\u2019ve done – it\u2019s been good,\u201d Amone told Hull Live.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m loving being here, and being around a winning environment and people who want to win more trophies. Everyone is on the same page, and everyone knows what they want.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been pretty exciting. I\u2019m glad to be a part of it and looking to win more trophies this year.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amone returned to England from the NRL midway through the 2025 season, initially joining Castleford Tigers on a short-term deal. However, his campaign was cut short after suffering a serious foot injury in September.<\/p>\n

The former Leigh Leopards fan favourite is now close to full fitness and is expected to be ready for the club\u2019s upcoming schedule.<\/p>\n

Hull KR<\/a> host Wakefield Trinity in their only pre-season fixture before kicking off the 2026 Super League campaign away at newcomers York Knights. Top-flight clubs will also enter the Challenge Cup at the third-round stage, with ties scheduled for the preceding weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good to be running as well after my injury,\u201d Amone added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe club has eased me into it, and we’re now looking to get more miles into my legs. I ruptured some of the ligaments in my foot, but thankfully I didn\u2019t need surgery – it was the same amount of time [recovery] with or without. It was a pretty good result, I was told.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt took me a week or two to get back running in pre-season, but I\u2019m pretty much in full training now. I\u2019m feeling a lot better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hull KR have made use of the Tenerife facilities in each of Willie Peters\u2019 four seasons in charge. Wakefield and Leeds Rhinos have already visited the island, while 2025 Grand Final opponents Wigan Warriors are set to travel later this month.<\/p>\n

For Amone, the former Canterbury Bulldogs prop is eager to build relationships both on and off the field as Hull KR look to drive further success in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll be looking to build on our connections,\u201d Amone said. \u201cThe boys are connected, but it\u2019s good for the new boys and buying into the systems and helping drive more success.<\/p>\n
