John Fury plans to fly out to Thailand in the coming weeks, hoping to assess whether his son, Tyson, is capable of mounting another world title charge.<\/p>\n
\u2018The Gypsy King\u2019 announced his return to boxing earlier this month, taking to social media to confirm that, following a near year-long retirement, he still has \u201cnothing better to do than punch men in the face.\u201d<\/p>\n
With that, Fury revealed several clips of himself training alongside heavyweight contender Kevin Lerena, before revealing that he is currently weighing around the 280lb mark.<\/a><\/p>\n This happens to be the same he weighed for his last outing, a unanimous decision defeat to Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, yet many have highlighted his slightly larger physique as a point of concern.<\/p>\n Or, at least, there is a consensus view that Fury, now 37 years old, still has a way to go before whipping himself back into fighting shape.<\/p>\n One member of the team who suspects this to be the case is his father, John, who seemingly has mixed feelings about his son\u2019s decision to return.<\/p>\n In fact, John had hoped for the former world champion to retire following his sixth-round stoppage victory over Dillian Whyte in 2022.<\/a><\/p>\n But then, with a trilogy against Derek Chisora and a close battle with former UFC champion Francis Ngannou arriving in 2022 and 2023, respectively, Fury would ultimately go on to suffer back-to-back points defeats to Usyk in 2024.<\/p>\n
