Killarney-born Jessie Buckley named best actress in a drama at the Golden GlobesSee the full list of winners below\n<\/p>\n

And Stephen Graham, Owen Cooper and Erin Doherty continued Adolescence\u2019s winning streak through awards season as they all secured gongs at the Golden Globes.<\/p>\n

Buckley picked up the prize for her turn as William Shakespeare\u2019s wife Agnes Hathaway \u2013 historically known as Anne \u2013 in the big-screen adaptation of Hamnet.<\/p>\n

The film, based on Maggie O\u2019Farrell\u2019s book about the death of Shakespeare\u2019s son, which inspired him to write Hamlet, was also named best motion picture drama.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not a normal feeling or situation to be in,\u201d she said, as she collected the award.<\/p>\n

The Killarney woman thanked a number of the crew before continuing; <\/p>\n

“\u2026.. 400 extras I adore you, I would rave in that glow for the rest of my life with you. It was such an extraordinary set to be a part of \u2013 a film about the most famous Brit who ever lived, with a Chinese director, a lot of Irish, mostly Polish crew, alongside our British family.\u201d<\/p>\n

She thanked one of the Polish crew members for making his soup on set (\u201cThis soup started turning up on set and it was delicious\u2026 thank you for bringing your pot to set\u201d). And she added:<\/p>\n

“To the incredible women I stand alongside in this category. Julia Roberts, you are a hero to us all. You [all] blow my mind.<\/p>\n

“To my husband, he\u2019s been really enjoying the free canap\u00e9s and cocktails. This is a real honour. I love what I do and I love being a part of this industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Catherine Connolly has congratulated Ms Buckley for her \u201cwonderful achievement\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to Jessie Buckley on her wonderful achievement in winning a Golden Globe at this year’s ceremony in Los Angeles,\u201d said President Connolly.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations too to Paul Mescal, Maggie O’Farrell, Element Pictures and Wild Atlantic Pictures on their very significant achievement in being nominated for Golden Globes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis award is a fantastic recognition of Jessie Buckley’s outstanding work, and of the continued exceptional success of the whole Irish film industry. May I further extend my best wishes to all those who have supported her both in this performance and across her career.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, One Battle After Another was named best motion picture comedy\/musical.<\/p>\n

Stephen Graham was named best actor in a TV mini series while Owen Cooper was named best supporting actor and Doherty was named best supporting actress.<\/p>\n

The Netflix show, about a teenage boy arrested for the murder of a classmate, also won the prize for limited series, anthology series or television motion picture.<\/p>\n

Speaking on stage, co-creator Jack Thorne said: \u201cSome think our show is about how we should be frightened of young people. It\u2019s not.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about the filth and the debris we have laid in their path.\u201d<\/p>\n

After thanking the young cast, he said: \u201cYou are proof the world can be better.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cRemoving hate is our generation\u2019s responsibility.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt requires thought from the top down. The possibility seems remote now, but hope is a beautiful thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The show won the same four prizes at the Critics\u2019 Choice awards last week and has also won a string of Emmys.<\/p>\n

Graham appeared to read notes off the palm of his hand as he collected his acting gong, saying: \u201cI\u2019d just like to say a massive congratulations to all the nominees in the category.<\/p>\n

He also thanked his producer wife Hannah Walters, adding: \u201cI\u2019ve said it before, but you\u2019ve saved my life. You saved my life. And to my two beautiful children, Grace and Alfie, I love you to the moon and back forever.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dad, my pops, my hero, and I would just like to dedicate this particular award to my mum and all my friends and family, you all know exactly who you are, and without you, none of this is possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

He was momentarily distracted when he spotted rapper and actress Queen Latifah in the audience and said \u201cQueen Latifah, wow,\u201d and bowed, before continuing: \u201cGod bless and in the words of Bob Marley, One Love.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper gave a nod to his beloved football team Liverpool as he collected the gong.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cStanding here at the Golden Globes does not feel real whatsoever. What an incredible journey me and my family have been put through.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWhat started off as what I thought I might be OK at, I might be awful at, I took a risk and I went to drama classes, I was the only boy there, it was embarrassing but I got through it.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I\u2019m still very much an apprentice, I\u2019m still learning every day, I\u2019m still every day learning from the people sat in front of me who have inspired me. I wouldn\u2019t be here without you guys.<\/p>\n

He wrapped up the speech by saying: \u201cBring on 2026. You\u2019ll never walk alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The closing line is a reference to the anthem of Liverpool Football Club.<\/p>\n

Teyana Taylor was the first winner of the night, scoring the best supporting actress in a drama film for her role as a revolutionary in One Battle After Another.<\/p>\n

Accepting her prize, she said: \u201cTo my brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a liability.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur depth is not too much.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur light does not need permission to shine.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe belong in every room we walk into, our voices matter, and our dreams deserve space. Thank you so much, everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

The film\u2019s director Paul Thomas Anderson took home the best director prize, as well as the screenplay gong.<\/p>\n

Stellan Skarsgard won the best supporting actor Golden Globe for his performance as a film director past his prime in Sentimental Value, while Rose Byrne was named best actress in a musical\/comedy for If I Had Legs I\u2019d Kick You.<\/p>\n

She thanked her husband, who was not present, saying: \u201cI want to thank my husband Bobby Cannavale, who couldn\u2019t be here tonight because he\u2019s getting a bearded dragon and he went to a reptile expo in New Jersey. So thank you. Thank you, baby.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cannavale is actually currently starring in a play on Broadway.<\/p>\n

Narcos star Wagner Moura won the award for best actor in a drama for The Secret Agent.<\/p>\n

Collecting the prize, the Brazilian star said: \u201cThe Secret Agent is a film about memory, or the lack of memory and generational trauma. I think that if trauma can be passed along generations, values can too.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo this is to the ones that are sticking with their values in difficult moments.\u201d<\/p>\n

Noah Wyle was named best actor in a TV drama for The Pitt while Jean Smart won the best actress in a TV musical\/comedy prize for Hacks and Seth Rogen won best actor in a TV musical\/comedy for The Studio.<\/p>\n

The series about a fictional Hollywood studio was also named best musical or comedy series.<\/p>\n

Medical drama The Pitt was named best television drama series, while Rhea Seehorn won best actress in a drama for her role in Apple TV\u2019s Pluribus.<\/p>\n

Good Hang with Amy Poehler won the first ever Golden Globe for best podcast while vampire drama Sinners won the prize for best cinematic and box office achievement.<\/p>\n

KPop Demon Hunters was named best animated film, while the movie\u2019s signature track Golden won the best original song prize.<\/p>\n

The 83rd annual Golden Globes award ceremony came to an end with One Battle After Another taking home four awards including for best musical\/comedy.<\/p>\n

The night was full of firsts for many stars in the room including Irish actress Jessie Buckley who took home her first Golden Globe for her emotional performance in Chloe Zhao\u2019s Hamnet along with Adolescence star Owen Cooper who, following on from his record-breaking Emmy win, bagged the award for best supporting male actor.<\/p>\n
