{"id":368296,"date":"2026-01-14T00:04:17","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T00:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/368296\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T00:04:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T00:04:17","slug":"nottingham-forest-could-now-get-stroke-of-luck-over-ibrahim-sangare-situation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/368296\/","title":{"rendered":"Nottingham Forest could now get stroke of luck over Ibrahim Sangare situation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Nottingham Forest will welcome back Ibrahim Sangare this week after his African Cup of Nations participation came to an end. <\/p>\n<p>Ivory Coast were beaten 3-1 by Egypt and his return couldn\u2019t come at a better time, with the Reds winning one game since he headed off to the tournament. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nottinghamforest.news\/tag\/ibrahim-sangare\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sangare<\/a> was praised for his efforts in the 3-0 win over Tottenham shortly before he linked up with the Ivory Coast, and it\u2019s fair to say that he\u2019s been sorely missed. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nottinghamforest.news\/tag\/nottingham-forest\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Forest<\/a> face Arsenal this weekend in a game that looks borderline impossible for the Reds to claim a victory but with Sangare back in the fold, perhaps there is a chance. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/GettyImages-2251303855-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Nottingham Forest star Ibrahim Sangare.\" class=\"wp-image-96817\" \/>Photo by Jon Hobley\/MI News\/NurPhoto via Getty ImagesForest might get out of Ibrahim Sangare clause<\/p>\n<p>The Reds landed Sangare for a fee in the region of \u00a330 million in 2023, with a series of add-ons included in the deal that were of benefit to PSV. <\/p>\n<p>However, Managing Director Marcel Brands has bemoaned one of the clauses in the deal, suggesting it was never really going to be likely. <\/p>\n<p>Sangare has a clause that gives PSV the right to another payment from Forest if a certain number of games is met during this season. <\/p>\n<p>However, with AFCON coming at the mid-season point in 2025\/26, it now looks as though Forest could get away without paying it this season. <\/p>\n<p>Brands said in a press conference: \u201cLet me give you an example. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe sold Ibrahim Sangare to Nottingham Forest. If Forest stays in the Premier League, we\u2019ll get a bonus. Provided he plays a few matches. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe might not be able to make those matches, because he has to go to the African Cup of Nations and there are many other things like that. It\u2019s not suitable anymore, it can\u2019t be done, can it?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen they should just come up with something else, but not in the middle of the competitions. You\u2019re talking about seriously good players from all kinds of European clubs. I think everyone has a problem with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Forest need Sangare to pick up where he left off<\/p>\n<p>The Ivorian was in fine form before he went off to Morocco with the international team and he\u2019s largely been impressive all season. <\/p>\n<p>Sangare shouldn\u2019t have too much pressure placed on him when he returns to the team this weekend, but his physical presence could be huge for Sean Dyche in his fight against relegation.<\/p>\n<p> Has Ibrahim Sangare justified his \u00a330m price tag? <\/p>\n<p> \ud83d\udc47 Join the debate; share your insight.
