Jorgen Strand Larsen is one of the names on the Nottingham Forest shortlist for the January transfer window. <\/p>\n

The Reds are desperate to land a new striker before the window closes, with goals proving a real problem for Forest this season. <\/p>\n

Arnaud Kalimuendo<\/a> has been allowed to leave to sign for Eintracht Frankfurt, and Forest are desperately short of attackers at the moment. <\/p>\n

Igor Jesus<\/a> has scored eight goals this season, but only one of them has come in the Premier League<\/a>, with Taiwo Awoniyi<\/a> not scoring in any competition since January 2025. <\/p>\n

Strand Larsen was thought to be the top Forest target<\/a>, but now it has emerged that someone else is topping the list instead. <\/p>\n

Journalist Ben Jacobs has been quizzed on what Forest are trying to do when it comes to signing a striker, and the response might be surprising. <\/p>\n

He believes that Strand Larsen is a long shot, with Forest instead going to make a serious play to bring Taremi to the club from Olympiacos instead. <\/p>\n

Jacobs said on the TalkSPORT<\/a> podcast: \u201cThere are other names, though, on the list as well. Jorgen Strand Larsen is a name that Forest have had outreach for. Wolves are prepared to sell.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the number needed to get Strand Larsen now, rather than in the summer, is 40 million pounds or more.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat was a figure that put off West Ham United. And Nottingham Forest seemed quite reticent to pay such a big sum for Strand-Larsen, knowing that he might be considerably cheaper in the summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd this is why Mehdi Taremi has leapt ahead at the moment anyway of Strand-Larsen in the pecking order. And a formal approach for Taremi is expected, therefore, in the coming days.\u201d<\/p>\n

Forest must avoid Taremi signing<\/p>\n

The Iranian international has scored eight goals this season, but in a league that is far inferior to the Premier League. <\/p>\n

Last season, he helped Inter reach the Champions League but managed three goals across the campaign, even if he did register nine assists. <\/p>\n

Taremi is 33 now and signing him would absolutely reek of short-termism, and ultimately, it feels as though he\u2019d be a panic signing of epic proportions. <\/p>\n

Sean Dyche will likely want a certain type of striker to come in, and Taremi is averse to holding the ball up in the final third. <\/p>\n
