Leny Yoro is set to be \u201cexposed\u201d in Michael Carrick\u2019s system at Manchester United according to former Red Devils defender Paul Parker, who\u2019s also far from convinced by the full-back options available to the caretaker boss.<\/p>\n
Carrick will lead United<\/a> until the end of the season having replaced Ruben Amorim at the Old Trafford hotseat on an interim basis.<\/p>\n READ:\u00a0Predicting the next manager of every club from Arsenal to Fulham \u2013 who gets Amorim and Maresca?<\/a><\/p>\n The former Red Devils midfielder is expected to move away from Amorim\u2019s controversial 3-4-3 formation having relied on a possession-based 4-2-3-1 in his time as Middlesbrough boss.<\/p>\n And while the change will be a welcome relief to the fans and many of the players, Parker believes Yoro will struggle when not playing alongside two other centre-backs.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Yoro struggles in Carrick\u2019s system, I really do,\u201d Parker told Metro<\/a>. \u201cI haven\u2019t seen anything yet on a consistent basis. I\u2019ve seen more consistency from (Ayden) Heaven than what I have from Yoro.<\/p>\n \u201cI think the back five covered him in the wide area. He had that little bit of cover in there. But I\u2019ve seen him in a four, and once he\u2019s exposed, he looks like he\u2019s treading water all the time.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s not the quickest, not the greatest of athletes. And I just look at what I saw against Brighton, and it\u2019s a concern.<\/p>\n \u201cIf we\u2019re talking about centre-halves to ones, there are three capable centre-halves that United have got: Heaven, then there\u2019s Martinez, and you look at De Ligt, who is a natural leader. Those are the three.\u201d<\/p>\n MORE MANCHESTER UNITED COVERAGE ON F365 Parker also believes the full-backs Carrick has at his disposal aren\u2019t up to scratch.<\/p>\n \u201cLuke Shaw hasn\u2019t got the agility, and hasn\u2019t really got the defensive prowess that he might have had when he was younger and pre-injuries as well,\u201d Parker added.<\/p>\n \u201cEverything he does now gives away too many fouls through the fact of not wanting to run that far, to be perfectly honest.<\/p>\n \u201cI look at (Patrick) Dorgu, and he just doesn\u2019t do enough. You just don\u2019t get enough of him over 90 minutes. I don\u2019t really know what his great strength is, to be perfectly honest.<\/p>\n \u201cAnd (Diogo) Dalot at right back, I think it\u2019s just done its time, to be perfectly honest. He\u2019s been all over the park, and there are too many unnecessary, unaided mistakes.\u201d<\/p>\n Parker does though believe that Carrick\u2019s interim spell could be a real positive for the younger players in United\u2019s squad.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019d like to think that he\u2019ll come in there and he\u2019ll be looking at Manchester United and say they\u2019ve got to rebuild,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019ll be looking at rebuilding where I think he\u2019ll get a lot of respect for, and that\u2019s using the players who have got a little bit more longevity within themselves.<\/p>\n \u201cSo I\u2019m looking at Heaven in the heart of defence, and you also have to look at Mainoo.
